Japanese discs hardly ever have English subs IME. There's a collection of some of Anno's live-action work that does, but that's an exception.

Ended up cancelling my CE for the regular edition. Not even remotely worth 140 bucks extra for a dub and oversized packaging. Glad they have multiple versions for this exact reason!

I've been getting the Hong Kong versions of the movies which do come with English subtitles. Here's hoping they do the 4k of 3.333 and the eventual 4k of 3.0 + 1.01. Their aesthetic is beautiful (matches the Japanese release) so I'm going to get the blu ray regardless for collecting purposes. I don't know how Evangelion being on Amazon affects the American Blu-ray release, but hopefully I get to complete that set as well.

Any guess on when the BD for 3.0 + 1.01 (or whatever number it will use) get released?

Watched 3.333 UHD and the 4k was enjoyable.

I did the same. I can't justify buying the CE over standard. The art on it is way nicer too.

There’s plenty of movies that do. The Eva rebuilds just aren’t among them.

I also opted to cancel the CE set. Not out of price, but if I'm buying a blu-ray upgrade while keeping the DVD set, at the very least I want to hold on to the newest content, which I assume the SE would suffice. Stinks that I won't be able to see the extra content from EoE that's exclusive to the UE and CE, although I'm sure the differences is simply the inclusion of intertitles.

But what really stinks is cancelling on Rightstuf yet again. I've been on a non-stop cancelling pursuit since the last few years, to the point that RS may not see me as a viable consumer (I think the Utena Ultimate Blu-Ray set was my first cancellation starter). I would love to buy the Robot Carnival BD from that store if they ever have it available, and I could think of other stuff to add up to the free shipping threshold. By chance, there's never a moment for that.

You too? Most of my orders on RS are cancelled. I end up switching back to Amazon because it's always cheaper or decide against whatever I ordered.

Just pre-ordered the standard edition as it's stupid-cheap on Amazon right now, even though I already have my pre-order paid up on the "Ultimate Edition." I think I might have a problem.

I rather not deal with Amazon unless it's a last resort. If any other shops have it at a similar price, I rather deal with that. That's my current path in life.

Man, Shout Factory's BD release is only $39. That's a damn good deal, even without the ADV Films' dub (I'm guessing).

Still, it probably won't devalue the old DVD sets as they feature a much cherished dub.

I just had a look at Anime Limited's page of NGE and read this...
