I don't think most are complaining about the gimmick. My earlier posts are very supportive of the light up feature.

I think the complaints come on the heels of the sideshow barker marketing of Screams of a Winter Night and the choppy, deliberate sales strategy of stimulating the collectors' Pavlovian response to perceived, yet engineered, rarity.

Customers are anticipating a similar approach of fueling an unnatural compulsion to scramble over (let's be honest) a ho-hum film from the twilight years of 80s horror.

Honestly, I can just imagine what Dark Force's facebook hype posts would look like when viewed through a pair of They Live sunglasses.

Watching a company who have close connections argue publicly is troubling.

Babylon's fall?

Stay tuned to WW(d)F for all the updates!

They're probably doing it because they think it'll drive sales up. It's the same game over and over again.

I don't like banana man but I'll still respect and support him. I don't like the dark force guy and i don't respect nor will i ever support him. It sucks but thats the way it is. I just can't get over his childish games, his attitude towards customers and the way he runs a business. It's simple to not buy something and it's hard to earn the trust and support of your customers. I thought after the constant backlash he'd change his ways but it seems like he fuels off of it.

I do find it funny that they don't get as many comments on facebook and some of their stuff is taking longer to sell out as compared to a few months ago. I can't even feel bad. You'd think the dude would change the way he does things by now except he seems to be so full of himself he cant stop.

Love the idea of doing DEAD PIT with a retro style box complete with light-up eyes.

Hopefully Dave won't play availability games with this. Just put it up and let it sell, dude. It's a great idea and I hope it's a big success for you.

I finally got and watched my copy of The Last Victim/Forced Entry on the weekend.

Is The Last Victim cut on this BD even the same as the original film that was released in 1975? This was my first time watching and it still seemed like it had been re-cut and the change in quality really threw me off. The majority was very nice looking but It still looked like material (some different shots/angles) that perhaps they re-shot after filming initially wrapped was inserted back in 2008 when it says these 2 cuts were created.

I definitely enjoyed The Last Victim over Forced Entry as released on this BD. Anyone who has watched the different cuts on this, is it worth the effort to track down the 88 minute version of Forced Entry for further comparison?

John Lyons did a pretty extensive comparison of the cuts earlier in this thread:

What's the deal with this back-and-forth between the two? I'm familiar with Code Red and have purchased from them, but I gather DEAD PIT is a Code Red title but offered through DF (which I've never purchased from).

I'm not familiar with this movie but I'd like to grab it. Is their arguing cause for alarm?

PS...not interested in the gimmick box btw. If offered with or without it, I'll take "without" especially if it inflates the price.

I wouldn't worry too much yet. It seems a bit like the Bad Cop, Worse Cop routine from Tango & Cash.

It started with people proffering what Bill felt would be low offers for the release, given the cost that would be involved in manufacturing the unique slipcover, and perhaps other expenses. He left a somewhat cryptic message stating "Deal canceled." Dark Force came on to say that it's still going forth, wherein Code Red chimed in, stating that all the details hadn't been finalized, and that it would be nigh impossible to get it out within the initially projected timeframe. From what I can gather.

This was one of Bill's most recent posts in the CR thread:
"DEAD PIT is property of CODE RED DVD
DEAL is not signed or paid.
Its up for grabs of any one has money to pay"

So basically if someone wants they can sweep in and get Dead Pit from df.

So I guess, interpreting Facebook posts, now it's Mirror Mirror that will use the light up LED technology on its case.

Don't know if Dead Pit is going to be through Dark Force, but they seem determined to use the light up feature any way they can.

Which is fine and good, but what I really need to know is, will it be a MAJOR COLLECTOR'S ITEM????

Light up instead of making the mirror reflective? Missed opportunity.

I could be remembering wrong, but didn't the original Mirror Mirror cover have a hologram? It was totally around that time when holograms were all the rage on comic book covers and such.
