I can't help but feel bad for Trank. His movie as he wanted to make it likely wouldn't have been very good at all, but it sounds like the studio bullshit is what really mangled this into the mess that's coming upon us. And no one deserves to have their career permanently kneecapped like his probably will (I'm getting serious Michael Cimino vibes from his future "career").

let's hope for that, maybe something like DOFP's Rogue Cut. any suggestions for a subtitle? Fantastic Four: The Jessica Alba Cameo Cut. I'd buy 10 copies of that!

Default How is garbage of a film still projected to make 45 million on opening weekend

I'm actually worried that people don't care that it's one of the worst reviewed movies ever and yet it's still projected to make 45 million dollars on opening weekend. I'm worried that the sequel might actually happen and the rights won't go back to marvel am I over worried. Is 45 million not a lot for opening weekend I was hoping it would bomb as hard as terminator and pixels.

If he did shoot it, I very much doubt Fox would be willing to release it or even acknowledge the movie being a gigantic cluster**** at all. At this point, we'd be lucky if the Blu-Ray has any special features at all.

Even if (probably when) it bombs, that's no guarantee Disney/Marvel will get the rights back.

I could see Fox keeping the rights and just trying again, trying to get it right this time.

they're football fans, so they'd probably think they can just throw a hail mary on fourth down.

I would like to see Fox bring in a strong director, a good writer and a producer with a proven track record to give it one more shot. Possibly even just to completely retool a sequel to this film.

No studio is going to want to give Trank another shot after that tweet.

that'd be kind of unfair, would it not? this clearly is a case of studio-meddling, just like The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

It happens all the time. Now why would another studio hire him when there's a possibility he could throw them under the bus as well?

Chronicle has a cult following.

Star Wars was a disaster for him.

Fantastic Four is opening...eh....and the critics are panning it widely.

I just don't see how he'll get another big budget film anytime soon.

They just devalued the FF Franchise greatly with this last attempt (unless by some miracle it would still end up pulling $300m+ at the BO), and to put this movie out they antagonized Marvel whom they need to be friends with to fully monetize their XMen franchise.

Honestly, it's time to put the shovel down.

getting a big budget studio film isn't the be-all/end-all of being a director. After his experience with Fox it's entirely possible he has no desire to take another run at jumping through studio hoops to please a producer.

Plenty of outlets for making good science fiction at much lower budgets.
