Nolan's Batman films are some of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of the past 10 years, but even I don't want him for Star Wars. It's not a good fit. There's a variety of talented filmmakers who would be great to bring in - there's no need to go Nolan-esque with this series.

Different Strokes for Different Folks. I like Begins. But love it or hate it. He's still not a 'Fantasy Space Opera' kinda guy.

Really? I would never call them masterpieces but that's just me.

Can't say I'd want him for Star Wars. It's not his niche.

I'd want someone who can create an atmosphere, write a script, and has a track record of wow'ing people with fantasy elements. Someone like Peter Jackson.

It's hardly definitive or a confirmation of the UOT coming to BD anytime soon, but I've always held those quotes as a glimmer of hope and possibility that he was no longer against releasing them and that it would happen eventually. It definitely proves that the old quotes of Lucas saying they no longer existed were just figurative and not literal in nature, as most fans already suspected.

Other than the above interview, I've never come across anything else in recent years where Lucas says anything other than "no" when asked about the UOT. So, who knows?
What you post here though definitely does not state as Beast wants to say what was said by Lucas(if this is what he thinks proves it was said) is that THEY WILL be released. It's simply speculation on our part that possibly, just MAYBE there is still hope. BIG DIFFERENCE. The only time you ever see announcements that Lucas WILL release the unaltered editions happen to fall on a certain date of the year, April 1st.

Thx for reposting this by the way.

I'm really looking forward to the new trilogy, I think, but the whole thing about pumping out a new Star Wars movie every couple of years from here on out just seems like overkill to me. If they do that, it just seems like they'll run it into the ground.

Don't have anything bad to say about this news. Kinda glad I held out on buying the Complete Saga on Blu now. Can't wait for the inevitable theatrical cuts of the original trilogy in that excellent Disney restoration quality... All of my monies! (Also release the holiday special too pls).

Interested in seeing how the new trilogy will go. With new faces at the helm instead of George Lucas doing everything, we could get some pretty great films instead of more prequel trilogy-quality stuff.

Eh, fifty years of Bond = what? Twenty-three movies?

They had their ups and downs but overall I'd say that franchise had done okay for itself.

Exactly: He was hired to do ONE movie, that needed to be "fixed" by going in as un-Joel-Schumacher a direction as possible, and now he's being drafted into typecasting by unimaginative fans, who not only believe he can "fix" every superhero movie in existence, DC and Marvel, but also the Star Wars Universe as well...
For pity's sake, leave the poor guy alone!! He did the one job that he was hired to do, what more do you want from him? Doesn't he have the right to decide his own career??

You will never see an R-Rated Star Wars film. Not from Lucasfilm. Certainly not from Disney.

Star Wars is a kiddie-centric property. Always has been. Always will be. Nothing has changed.

Saying you want something on par with Aliens, T2, and Gladiator is not realistic at all.

Another really good tribute to Star Wars besides the current Clone Wars series was the Lego Padawan Menace on Blu. If you haven't seen it, it is hilarious, and the audio mix is spectacular on Blu!

Edit: Sorry about that large image a second ago!
