I don't doubt for a minute they're saving all the features people really want for an e3 "reveal." It doesn't seem past them to get on the big stage and say "we're listening" and have the place eat it up. Last edited by dyne; 04-30-2014 at 11:18 AM. |

plus the ONE thing I was excited about turned out to be crap. the dimming of the ps4 controller's LED... it dims maybe 10% at MOST... I was hoping for a 70%-80% dim ability. the things still a f@cking flashlight beam |

I don't have FB and I'm not interested in the social side too much, but I do want the ability to make use of the video and screen grab functions. Now I can. So although some of you don't care; the fact is this WAS a requested feature that Sony have now delivered on.
That said, I also want 3D playback so I hope that arrives soon. |

for me, Remote Play from somewhere other than home now works for me. I just tried it and connected to my home PS4 from work on my Vita! So that is a big plus.
I like the streaming/saving to usb updates. I haven't really been streaming cause I was waiting for archiving to be implemented. Very awesome they got that running now ![]() |

To be fair to Sony; have they ever indicated that things like MP3, streaming, etc, are part of the PS4 road plan?
What worked for PS3 during its time in the spot light may no longer be seen as important to Sony anymore. That was designed to be an all round entertainment device; your media hub, etc. It seems to me that Sony don't see PS4 in the same way. Playing games and sharing your experiences are currently at the heart of the PS4. We might never be able to load our photos and music to it. So we can have a good moan about what we feel are "missing" features, but at the end of the day it's entirely down to Sony as to what gets added. Also, I'd post these requests on the official PS boards, not here. I doubt they monitor any other forums. |

The way I see it, Sony works for us. You can call it moaning all you want but the way I see it, the only way change can be made is for us, the customer, to let Sony know what we want. If Sony wants people to "upgrade" from one generation to the next the hardware has to be MORE (or at the least AS) capable as the previous console and no, graphics aren't enough. What gets me the most is stuff like in this thread https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=231323&page=3 that should be fixed first and foremost before any of this social crap is even thought of. It's like they have one ****ing person working on firmware. Half baked systems rushed to launch don't sit well with me.
They said over and over this would be a substantial firmware. To me, it's not even the beginning of righting the ship. Still no suspend/resume. Still shoddy headset support. Where's the demo streaming? Actually, where the hell are the demos period? Last edited by dyne; 04-30-2014 at 05:20 PM. |

Only I DID download the demo for Child of Light last night and played it. Enjoyed it thoroughly! Oh and that's another thing that's confusing. Some demos like Child of Light and Fifa are not in the damn demo section of the store! It's just listed under "Games" and you have to click on the individual game like you're going to buy it before it's finally revealed that there's a demo you can download. It's very confusing and I don't understand why the various demos are segregated like that. |

I was going to say some things much more directed, but changed my mind.
These are the same complaints that we have been hearing from the outset, and not by great numbers of users, but by a few who are disappointed, vocal and have strong opinions about what they think PS4 should be compared to PS3. And FWIW, if it's done here, it is no better than moaning or whining or beefing or whatever you want to call it, because no one here can do anything about it. Sony has no obligation to anyone but the shareholders, and PS4 has been selling well without all the so-called omissions, so I would not hold my breath for any features that will not enhance PS4's real purpose, which is to generate revenue. Almost none of the omitted features have added value for Sony, and if they do someday arrive, they is no reason for them to be a priority now, because of the fact that PS4 is selling well without them. I for one think Sony knows exactly what is important to those PS3 and PS4 users who also spend money on SEN, and those are the users they are prioritizing. For myself, the DS4 dimming feature is nice. Time will tell, if it helps battery life. But I like better the ability to preload games. This feature will almost certainly induce me to spend more of my gaming dollars at the PS Store. |

So we should stop discussing PS4 firmware in the PS4 firmware thread? Isn't that the point to a board? We should only say nice things then and pretend we like what we're given? (I agree with most of your points you just made btw).
Let's play devil's advocate though. Sure none of the features make them money. They also didn't on the PS3 but there they were. You can make the argument that they learned from this and decided to not waste the resources this round and that's fine. But I'm sure there more than a handful of people waiting on getting a system because of the lack of features. It may not be millions, but they're there. This is the reason they should add them. While they won't make money directly off the features they will make money in the long run because of another sold system. Last edited by dyne; 04-30-2014 at 06:33 PM. |

Quoted snip - "I would not hold my breath for any features that will not enhance PS4's real purpose, which is to generate revenue."
This must have always been the case with any product ... but I saw PS3 as generous and I see the next gen systems as pure greed. I have a PS3 and Had for a while a PSPGo and I nearly bought a PS4 but ... too much of what I read as I considered it came out to be simple greed and nothing more. It must be true that gaming systems exist just to move money to people who want it but I think they must have hidden it better before. When I got my PS3 it came with a movie and a free game... and when X-mass happened another free game... really seemed me and Sony were like friends or something....Now it just seems like the new systems are ATM's just funneling the cash...That's just how it seems to me. I've put away all my games and just watch movies now so maybe these thoughts don't matter ... maybe I just out grew my interest in gaming. or something. |
