Correct. I don't own a UHDTV right now, but I'd still buy a UHD BD/BD combo, to future proof.

Future proofing is a bunch of bull anymore. Just 2-3 years ago many were buying BD/DVD combo packs to future proof and now we should future proof for UHD? Many are still future proofing for Blu-Ray!! What are we future proofing for if the future we're future proofing for never comes? Has future proofing for Blu-Ray been in vain?

Ehmm.. this has always been the case and this could be argued when BD or DVD or LD launched. Newer formats replace older ones.

Not at absurd rates with diminishing returns they don't.

2-3 years ago, I wasn't buying DVDs (if I could help it) I was all-in on Blu-ray.

Amazon finally updated the product page with a photo of the box.

(Though it still says "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available.")

I wonder what took them so long, considering people had the cover from other sources for a while.

There used to be a delivery date of October, but now when I go to Amazon it says:

Quote:
Not yet shipped
Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date.
And I got an email this morning that says:

Quote:
Hello,

We're writing about the order you placed on May 01, 2015 (Order# xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxx). The item(s) you ordered is not yet released. We will notify you of a specific delivery date when one is available.

They probably had to wait for Disney to send them the artwork. They can't just screen grab from a blog and use the image regardless of whether or not it's official.

Pinocchio will be released as a Diamond next year but don't hold your breath for Snow White.

Why would they re-reelase Pinocchio as a Diamond when we already have it as a Platinum?

Disney Movie Club updated this week with information on the release. Perhaps this is why Amazon sent you the e-mail.

Personally, I think that Future-Proofing is a great idea. UHD is coming this winter, and I am looking forward to seeing how great it will look on my 55" 4K Vizio screen!

Why were you buying DVDs back in 2012-2013? The only DVDs I got during that time were freely included in my blu-ray purchases, and even then most places were starting to go with a digital copy instead. If anyone is still future proofing for Blu-ray, then they seriously need to find a cave somewhere. Seriously though, it is 2015, and HDTVs are easily available for less than $300 for a 60hz 1080p 42" LED HDTV and a blu-ray player can be bought for under $75. There is no need to future proof for Blu-ray, as it is already here, well established, and looking great. It hasn't been the run-away success that DVD was before it, but it is here, and you can get thousands of movies and tv shows in glorious high definition. Blu-ray hasn't been in vain, it has been amazing!

UHD Blu-ray is coming, and I can't wait for it.

I love physical media but the way some studios (including Disney) have treated their latest BD releases is appalling to say the least. I don't know if I'm eager to start buying UHD BDs that at first will be great like the Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio and the Snow White BDs, only to end up with ones looking like The Sword in the Stone or almost bare bone releases like Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen.

1 - What is the difference besides the Banner Title of Diamond and Platinum?
2 - Is The Black Cauldron going to be released on Blu-Ray?
