I am a long-time subscriber of iTunes Match (which I use to access my own music library on the go), and I also did the free 3-month trial for Apple Music when it came out (but didn't keep it). Neither of them have ever touched any of my original files.

The mistake that Apple made with Apple Music is that they are mixing your own library with music that originates from the Apple Music subscription. This can be hard to understand, and frankly, many users are simply not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I read that blog post yesterday and while I didn't confirm any of it I certainly believe all of it.

And this part is 100% accurate..

Quote- "For about ten years, I’ve been warning people, “hang onto your media. One day, you won’t buy a movie. You’ll buy the right to watch a movie, and that movie will be served to you. If the companies serving the movie don’t want you to see it, or they want to change something, they will have the power to do so.

My kids do streaming of Amazon and they sometimes watch my Vudu copies of stuff but personally... I think streaming needs to go away and I can't do anything to make that happen but I can myself remove it from my own life so I will start there.

I buy Music and Movies... I then back it up to digital files and I won't go into detail but for CDs for example this is completely Legal. I use lossless encoding so that I have a digital file and my discs are my backup.

It's what I do and what works for me.

I hate streaming ... I really do....

I think I may have mentioned my neighbor couldn't get her stereo working in the barn the other day... I checked the connections and all looked good.. I plugged in my ipod and had music... Then she brought over her phone and opened her music app (something about XM) and just said "Acquiring Music" or something like that with a spinning ball... I hate streaming .. it's for the dumbest or at least laziest folks.

Well, I guess we all believe what we want to believe. Nevertheless, here's a comment on the blog from iMore:

http://www.imore.com/no-apple-music-...ss-you-tell-it

In conclusion, maybe a little logical thinking: Malfunctions and buggy software notwithstanding (that's why you make backups), I am sure that Apple and other companies will never intentionally go and delete users' music files, remove purchased content from their accounts and similar things. Why? For the same reason your utility company doesn't just arbitrarily turn off the electricity you paid for, and your bank doesn't block access to your bank account without a reason: They are businesses, and such practices would very quickly kill their business.

It's going to get dafter. Anything that has a screen no matter how small. Smartwatches, bracelets, smart rings, you name it. If I read the already over used phrase of 'your movies, anytime anywhere!' I will scream. I don't want to watch my movies on a watch or a ring on my finger. I want a big **** off TV and projector. The bigger the better (that's what she said)

Blu Ray with iTunes digital copy backed up. Use blu on the main tv/projector and digital everywhere else.

That said, any non action film starting this year is digital only.

Vudu has a section of Movies you can Stream now that are still in Theaters, and not out on Disc. I have watched a few of them, not bad. They also have some $.99 Rentals for HDX that are pretty good too.

Talk about a personal attack! Well, the generator was a joke that I actually confessed to 2 posts later. I was simply replying to a post that has almost become a template for the digital fanboys out there (what if you lose power! It's the same as the Internet going down!) well losing electricity is very rare. I think it has happened twice in s decade in my city.

Fibre you say? Most people here have fibre now. I have Sky Fibre but many have Virgin it all depends on your preference. So you see, I can afford the blurays I have bought (700, nearly 400 are displayed on my home page, I will eventually add them all.

Finally, my friends on the forum know my setup. I have a very personal reason for not displaying my setup. I don't need to tell you, but if you really really need to know, PM me.

For those that know me, a 32 inch tv won't quite do!

Where is your setup anyway? Was looking forward to seeing your IPad?

We do indeed, believe what we want to believe. Like streaming fanboys believe everything will be rosy in the future. I know I keep banging on about the 'pay by screen size' idea mentioned by the Dreamworks CEO (can't remember his name) but that scheme would turn everything on its head. The industry will push it as well. Advertising dollars are shifting to digital anyway.

I think in the foreseeable future, we will face a choice. Rent or buy the mobile film for £2.99/£6.99 or rent/buy the tv version in 4K for £4.99/£15.
Once that happens, mobile will grow massively overnight, people Will always go for cheap. Will we even see home theatre enthusiasts go the cheaper route? All of a sudden, the 'movies anywhere, anytime' phrase will no longer be accurate.
Subscription services will go the same route. Much cheaper mobile only Netflix etc or pay extra for the service through your tv/projector. I think we will be forced to choose with the huge majority choosing mobile (cheapest) this is the threat I can see happening and it could happen within 10 years just like the Dreamworks guy hinted at. The death of home cinema and this tech that some guys rave about will have killed home cinema. Even now, the industry is trying to force the Digital thing with early releases to push Bluray out.

This proposed idea is a big deal and warrants big discussion. Home cinema is at threat here.

I don’t mean this as an insult, but I feel sorry for people who started their collections all over again from DVD to Blu-ray, since now your Blu-ray collection is also about to be out-dated.

This is why digital is the way to go. Internet speeds will be able to show a full high def movie in 4K in no time, or 8K, or whatever next they throw at us.

Soon there gonna have to change this sites name to 4k.com or digimovies.com

Anyone wanna buy a used time machine? Warranty expired in 2019, but it still works fine!

Unfortunately in rather poor quality...........but hey physical media is still the best way to watch your movies huh?

I watched Rififi on Blu Ray last night and jeez was it stunning, no compression issues, macro blocking, buffering etc and it is mine to keep along with the book and extras that were included with it. Would be an awful shame if this was lost to an very much inferior product wouldn't it.

Nothing old fashioned about watching films in stunning quality. Nothing at all. Digital is for kids with their iPods and phones. Us grown ups are more refined and like to appreciate films for more than superheroes fighting each other.

Just my opinion but Shouldn't you be under a bridge scaring people? If you are truly a film fan read my comments above. That is where Digital is taking us IMO.

You don't feel sorry at all. You have just joined the forum and already spouting your mouth off about The 'supposed death of Blu-Ray' didn't you see the fate of the last person who did that?

Quite honestly I don't feel the need to upgrade to 4K, I think it's a must for theaters and IMAX as the screen sizes make the upgrade worthy but I'm happy with 1080p at home. Unless I'm watching my 52" screen from 2 or 3 feet I can't make the difference between 1080i, 720p or 1080p. HD-DVD died 8 years ago and I haven't replaced any of my 170+ titles as I still watch them and probably will for a while since I still have 4 working players. (2 brand new) In the future I will still have those disc and if I want to go all digital it will be possible to use them as backup and convert them to digital.

May I ask why are you a member on Blu-ray.com? You obviously don't like this format and yet you created and account and post here.
