Everyone from GA comes here during the FL-GA weekend. They clog up our streets, and drink all the alcohol! When I "was" interested in college football I'd go to downtown and found more Bulldog fans than GaYtor fans. |

BUT, I hate having it in Jax. It's, what, 60 miles from Gainesville? Even though ticket sales are roughly 50/50, it's still like playing in their backyard --- year after year. I know UGA used to own the series. It's about tied up now, despite UF's winning 16 of the last 19 (but only 2 of the last 5 -- there's hope!!) I just want to have a neutral and neutral. One year in ATL, the next in JAX. I don't need a home and home. |

Thanks for the post. ASU (though they haven't played anyone worth a damn) is #1 in several defensive categories (including takeaways, while UGA is 4th worst in giveaways), so I'm surprised by the line. |

There's a couple good games on this weekend. Obviously Miami/Virginia Tech takes precedence for me, the 'Canes have been talked about all week so the pressure is definitely on. I'm very nervous about the game, I hate Virginia Tech and really hope we can pull off a 3-0 start. We're slowly climbing back into elite status, but we definitely need this one. Great teams win big conference games, and this is one for sure.

#4 Ole Miss is going down. Can't really say I'm surprised as they haven't looked all that great this year thus far. I actually thought they would get beat tonight. Looks like it's gonna be another one of those years where you don't wanna be in the top 5.

Without that UGA game, South Carolina's defense would only be yielding 9.6 points/game.
They are one play away from being 4-0 and ranked in the top 10. Of course, as always, they'll start folding any day now. No way So. Carolina is THAT good, so I think they've just exposed Ole Miss. It's Alabama's division to lose, now. |

What an absoute sloppy mess!! As one of my friends put it, that was "garbage embarrassing"!! What was even worse than Ole Miss' play was the play calling!!! #22 Dexter McCluster, our speedy WR/TB and best offensive weapon, touched the ball only twice in the first 3 quarters!! Our offensive coordinator, Kent Austin, said he wanted to use McCluster sparingly due to his size (5'9", 155 lbs) and he didn't want him to get beat up. But I think that small frame and light weight is what gives him his speed advantage, Kent!! You tell me a team in any sport that can win a game if they wait until the end of the game to get the ball to their best player. You think the Cavs can win if they wait until the fourth quarter to feed the ball to LeBron? Hell no!! You think the Cardinals can win if they wait until the 9th inning of each game to give Pujols an AB? No! That TD drive so late in the game? What plays drove us down the field and set up the TD pass? Oh, wait! They were all Dexter McCluster runs, Kent Austin. So, why the hell was our best weapon on the sidelines all night and not getting the ball when he was on the field?
Jevan Snead? My real beef is why he was left in after the first half. 3 completions in the first half for only 30 yards?! Why was our #2 guy not given a chance? It couldn't have turned out any worse. And it's not like the University was campaigning for him as a Heisman candidate (although that went bye bye after the first game), so he didn't need the numbers. Well it looks like the same story as last season, when it took him the first six games to warm up. Guess we're going down that road again. Bye bye, top 25. And if we continue to play like last night, 7-5 will be dreaming of a miracle. Good Lord, I am so ashamed!! ![]() Last edited by rebfandan; 09-25-2009 at 02:30 PM. |

Snead -- wow. Dude had 3 completions for 30 yards in the 1st half. We all have crappy days. Last night was yours. Now go on and beat LSU and Alabama! |

The only consolation I can take from this debacle is maybe, just maybe the pressure may be off. Some analysts in the preseason predicted that we could possibly run the table, although I never bought it. So, we don't have to try to be perfect anymore. It may be a blessing in disguise, as we obviously play better in the "hunter" role instead of the "hunted", as they commentators last night put it.

I was only watching the first half during commercials of the NBC shows but Mississippi was awful during that time. I agree on McCluster, he was an absolute stud in the 4th quarter and he should be touching the ball frequently, although he did get winded by the end of the game.
South Carolina's playcalling in the final 12 minutes was horrible. Why were they passing so much with a 2 possession lead? They don't have a stud quarterback or receivers so they should have been running every down and sprinkling in the occasional play-action pass. |

His biggest problem is settling down. He gets really antsy, and then tends to overthrow. His pocket presence has improved somewhat, but it doesn't amount to much if you can't complete a pass. I'm going to be some kind of pissed if he pulls this crap next week against Vandy and we don't see him benched for a series or two.

You can't blame McCluster for getting winded when all of a sudden the entire offense is put on his back and every play dialed up at the end is for him. We have talent, and I think a lot of good can come from this, but Jevan Snead has to prove himself to me all over again. |

Tim Tebow is reportedy sick but will play against Kentucky. It's been crazy how many people have gotten sick this year. Hopefully the H1N1 vaccine works. As an Iowan I know not to call it Swine flu because our ex-governor said that puts a negative connotation on the hog industry.
