Agreed. If this Acolyte show gets anywhere near those it will be a big win, IMO.

I’ll watch later tonight.

Geode is its name. It’s in the High Republic novels. I don’t think it’s going to be this as far as I know.

I'll wait for a more balanced take then from someone like SW Explained or Hello Greedo or their ilk.

I think Josh from Den of Nerds is probably the most even handed of the Youtube reviewers out there though admittedly he is still a big Feige simp.

Caught the showing of the first 2 episodes at AMC last night. I really enjoyed them. Felt fresh and fun in a lot of ways, but still paid homage to some really classic Star Wars things. I was worried a lot of the characters would be pretty dry, since it's the height of the Jedi, and they're not exactly known for being the most interesting people. They were definitely more rigid, but I think they still did a good job distinguishing everyone. I quite liked Jecki and Sol, and Yord was fun, for being the young rule-follower type. Manny Jacinto was really good too- seemed to be the audience's favorite, and I certainly have my theories on him, and Amandla Stenberg I thought did a really good job as the lead. She got a lot of screen time, and while the character herself does suffer a bit from the "blank slate protagonist" thing, she managed to play it interestingly enough to still make me care about her. It's at least a nice change from the "Chosen One" storyline, so she's allowed to be a bit rougher around the edges.

Had some good action- I feel like the kung fu stuff actually worked pretty well. Was it a little over-the-top at times? Sure, but nothing that really took me out of it. Definitely feels like the prototype for what would be the Jedi's combat style come the prequel era. The Jedi here had a rigidity to them, in both combat and demeanor, and they really played up the "peacekeeper" aspect a few times, mirroring real world cops, which I appreciated. We were always told that the Jedi were essentially the cops/SWAT of the Star Wars universe, but weren't often shown that aspect in the movies, beyond some rescue missions.

I'm really looking forward to seeing where this one goes! Feels like there's still a lot left to cover, which is exciting!

Yeah Jake Lloyd was really abused for being.... <checks notes> a young white male.

Seriously, stop embarrassing yourself. Just admit you made a statement which you didn't really think through 100%. You'd look a lot less foolish admitting you made an honest mistake than you do defending such a stupid statement.

Most early reviews arent really legit though. Lets wait until a bunch of us regular folk see some episodes versus the paid-youtube-posse.

Remember, when early reviews come in and they are negative, its called review bombing. Just saying. Lets move slow here.

I’m just going off the current 87% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. I know it’s still early, and that score could change (or audiences will vary), but it’s still encouraging.

I am curious about this. I am one of the Star Wars fans who thought The Mandalorian all 3 seasons were great and Andor was a lackluster borefest on the whole (with a very very few exceptions in certain moments). Shall take a look at this and see what I think.

What was everyone's thoughts on the image?

To me it appeared very soft and somewhat grainy. And also a bit bright. I can understand if some of that is artistic choice to be more "gritty," but I don't recall the trailer being like that.

I was coming here to say the same thing. The trailers were a lot more vibrant.

I was entertained by the first two eps and I’m intrigued to see where the story is going. That is all. We’ll see how this shapes up.

The crusaders on both sides who’ve been stinking up this thread with culture war nonsense are equally silly and ridiculous.

May the force be with you.

Bearded trans jedi with "it" pronoun in the very first damn episode. The Jedi academy (and the show in general) is OVERWHELMINGLY female dominant. Even nearly all the damn aliens are female. I'm out!

I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I hope they can keep it up, if for no other reason than to see the YouTube Legion of Bile eat their words. Ahsoka began strong before utterly collapsing, Mandalorian S3 was a train wreck, Obi-Wan started well enough before falling victim to the Pad Monster...so far, this is a good old fashioned Saturday morning serial...two down and six to go. Thumbs up.

Regarding lead characters parents: "...both her mothers..." Way to be divisive early on. Please get better as the season progresses.

I thought it was ok, but these 2 eps didn't really leave me with wanting more. I'll stick around for a few and see where it goes.
