Kenny Baker does not have real dialog to read I guess, the invitation to him probably in the optional list. And Max von Sydow probably in the "whatever you want to do" list.

Would be happy if George Lucas was there as well though.

Isn't Max von Sydow the one talking to Mark Hamill in the picture ?

I just can't watch this. I don't care if Lucas originally had planned 12 episodes. To me, it doesn't feel right without him leading the ship. Frankly, it doesn't feel right after the ending of Return of the Jedi.

That's just me. I'll be on an island on this one while everyone basks in the euphoria that is new Star Wars films come next December.

The Star Wars universe and mythology is too large a canvas for artists to paint on to limit to just one six part story on film. If this film didn't include Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, etc. then I would probably be with on this, but I'm just really excited to see this and I think it's too early to write it off for the reasons you listed.
I'll probably be sailing along with Jumpman on this one too, or side by side. I don't own the Star Wars Saga on BD and still have no interest in owning it. Nor do I have any feelings for this movie, other than being happy for those of you out there who continue to seek peace with this Jedi / Disney family, but I'll pass even with Fisher, Ford, and Hamill onboard. My ship sailed after Episode II: Attack of the Clones, especially after hearing of Lucas' countless alterations to the original three There are other franchises out there to fulfill my needs, this would have been good if it was 1989

Again, not trolling, just happy for those who still sail with this franchise, I'm off.

Because they have yet to complete the CGI shots of a rock to hide him.

I watched the first film this weekend and had forgotten all about that. Major forehead smack moment.

Still enjoyed the hell out of the movie though. I go through my periods of Lucas rage, but it doesn't take away my love of watching the trilogy.

Abrams did a nice job with Peter Weller, Greenwood and Spock with the old actors in his flicks so there is a good chance that the elders in is film will shine.

I just watched them last weekend as well, so the 'rock' was fresh in my mind. The rock itself does not bother me, but the physics of how R2 enters and exits that little cave/crevice are beyond me.

Despite the changes, I still love the films.

I saw Star Wars twice in 1977. Then the re-release in I believe 1979/80. Then Empire and ROTJ. The prequels were ok but I can't say I'm excited for this or any new films. Shitbirds will ruin the theatrical experience. It's a given. No showing is safe. So, I'll probably wait for the blu.

Just go to a later showing when it dies down.

Maybe he's being saved for a surprise cameo where he comes in to save the day at the end of the movie.

Looking and sounding good!!! I'm very optimistic that Star Wars can recover from the less than stellar prequels. Yes, I do believe J.J. Abrams and Disney can put Humpty Dumpty back together again! Focus on story, solid acting and keep the CGI under control guys and gals... Please!!! Can't wait... I'll be there the first night with a big grin.
