The ignore feature on this site is a wonderful thing. I wonder when TCM Underground plans to re-air The Farmer

It was entertaining at first but I can't take it anymore.

Every once in a while someone mentions The Farmer which I will never understand given how it just didn't stir anything in me. Maybe you have to be a dude, and just the right kind of macho dude, to get that film, which is great for you but less so for me, since I'll always feel like I missed out on the point of that one and should have gotten it....

[Show spoiler]Anyway, it turned out to be Showtime that confirmed airing it and unfortunately they don't have it or intend to air it again. From what the guy told me, in the early days they borrowed from UCLA, just like TCM did, but they no longer do that and haven't for "decades". (That was probably his way of saying "Hey old lady, why are you asking me about this film nobody cares about?) TCM never got back to me to confirm or deny whether they ever aired it, sort of oddly not answering that specific question, but did go into detail to confirm that they borrowed liberally from UCLA and Paley archives in the early years, airing many of their VHS-only, hard to find films, and even the 16mm, beat-up copies of films that they no longer show. Additionally, they have used other university archives and even borrowed from private collections over the years, so, I thought that was pretty cool and wish they'd go back to doing more of that. Now, films that are being restored and have been "scanned" are what they air, when they air an unavailable film. They just don't do VHS and ripped copies anymore.

Sorry they aren't going to air it, likely, ever again on Showtime or ever (again?) on TCM, but you can still go to the UCLA archive to view the very same copy Showtime aired back in the very early 90s. Someone a while ago said they have more than one copy now, so it would have to be one of those.

Good luck in your efforts.

Bringing it back, yet again to Dark Force, which, to my knowledge, is not releasing The Farmer, although, come to think of it, if he could illegally copy that VHS, that would make a great Drive-in co-feature with Gates of Hell, since that's not one I really wanted anyway, but, to the point, we did get an update on Facebook.

Code Red 179, Dead Pit, has an announcement posted, and a pic of a what looks like a slipcover. The promised announcement, I assume, will be an update and an actual street date, coming during the Memorial Day sale. Bill and David are selecting titles for their discount sales and those will be discussed. The OOP section is supposed to be up for the Memorial Day sale.

I'll try to post the updates on the sale, if I remember. I do know some of you appreciate the information but the vocal few who don't want to know about Dark Force sometimes win out and I forget about the rest of you. I'll try to remember. But, if I don't, you can check the facebook feed for the sale updates. https://www.facebook.com/pg/Dark-For...=page_internal

Seeing as the film never played Turner,
and your synopsis was completely unrelated to the plot of the film,
coupled with your endless queasy brown nosing posts.....

...you do not have to be a dude.

You just have to see the film,
which you clearly did not.

I definitely remember seeing THE FARMER in the 90s. A defunct company VSOM was selling copies for $25. The quality was terrible and I returned it.

Maybe not something you want to admit to on these boards. Having seen that film can really bring out the worst in some. I'm not proud to admit it but I wouldn't have been honest had I known how angry it would make some people.

In other news, someone pointed out that I missed some info. (I don't always bother with the comments section.) David did say that the Dead Pit release is in what would be technically called a slipcover but it is a "customized" and apparently unusual slipcover, more like a box, which is how he was describing it. The release date looks like it is going to be in June because the slip/box won't be ready for May. However, everything else is done. Dead Pit is ready to go, except for the finishing touch on the packaging and he is pleased with the visual on it.

Dead Pit is going up for 1000 of the limited edition, kind of like the VS model. They will sell the first 1000 with the limited customized slip/box and then, assuming good sales, he has said they will sell a standard edition. No additional news on Point Doom, MM I, Gates of Hell/co-feature.

Dave can only do 1000 copies. If he wants to do more he will have to do a new deal with Bill.

David said most of us on these forums don't buy. We just like to start fights. How many of us would buy The Dead Pit if it was released through Ronin?

Dead Pit is big enough that it will definitely sell well over 1000 IMO, how long it takes will depend on the price of the LE. Just a matter if people want to spend more for the LE case and get it sooner vs. wait out the cheaper standard edition down the road (no matter who sells it).

I don't agree. Especially if it's overpriced because of packaging, which we all know it will be.

People rabidly gobbled up 1000 copies of SOWN in a standard Blu case for 27.99 so as long as Dead Pit isn't like Opera Deluxe expensive I think it will move 1000 due to its notoriety even if it takes a little bit.

Dead Pit is being waaay over-hyped.

It's only real selling point is that the leading lady spends most of the movie running around in her underwear.

For those who haven't seen it, don't get sucked into the DF/CR hype machine and shell out extra money for a "collectible". Learn the lesson of SCREAMS OF A WINTER'S NIGHT (overhyped, over-priced, thoroughly meh movie).

He'd have to play the same game he did with SOWN, which I don't think would go over as well this time.

the dead pit is just a stupid good time. i could understand SOAWN being overhyped because it's vying to be a good movie. the dead pit isn't trying to be that at all -- it's the kitchen sink of b-movie horror: ghosts, slashers, zombies, and good ol' exploitation all in one. it's somewhat similar to bad dreams, but if it were vying for stupidity.

for the record, i'd buy the shit out of the dead pit from ronin or code red.

from dark force? as much as i want the movie...no. my sense of decency won't allow that.
