I looked at EuphoricFX (which I am now a member YAY!) but they don't have the ones I'm looking for. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Edit... nm, I GOT IT!!! thank you for the help with the image YES!
I was searching for the same thing myself, couldn't find a good hi-res picture of those covers. I just decided to scan them.

nichart, just perfect,, but I have one question, and I see it a lot on here, why the fox logo on the spine? MGM titles don’t have it in the spine and that covers up your work,

is it going to be available for download?

The Secret of NIMH, while being an MGM title, is being distributed by 20th century fox. If you want any of my covers, just shoot me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll e-mail the file to you. This is true to anyone.

I'm a noob at this remember, lol! I didn't know that image was the original 2004 DVD cover tho, I never bought that release! I did find it though, at cdcovers.cc

Right now I'm just trying to find my way around photoshop... I think I might be doing okay for now, and this was just a really easy image to work with. Not trying to do anything too difficult right now, but thanks for dashing my spirits with your negativity!

True, but all MGM titles are, and they only display the MGM logo on the top of the spine, while the 20th Century Fox logo is only on the back. If you could remove the Fox logo on the spine and switch the placement of Mrs. Brisby and the MGM logo, it would be perfect.

Yea those versions were definitely spawned at the furthest end of the universe... in a galaxy far, far away. Atrocious...

I'm sorry, don't mean to criticize anybody's tastes, but they're that terrible.

Hey, he doesn't have to change it if he doesn't want to. It's just a suggestion because he's literally that close to what could pass as the real deal. Something that could hopefully be somehow swapped over at Fox right before the release is authored, packaged and shipped out, and the world wouldn't have to see that awful art they planned on using.

I don't think they look so bad. I'm not crazy about the ROTJ one, but I think the first two are actually pretty good (I just don't like Han's short hair in that picture). If the saga comes out with good cover art for the movies, I probably won't work on those ones, but they're definitely better than just a black box with the words Star Wars on it.

Something I did when I first started doing these covers was not to try to create one of my own, but to re-create an official one, using it as a template and guide. That also is really helpful, and when you're done you have a sort of template of your own.

Try movieposterdb.com for some of the gorgeous original trilogy art by Jung or the Hildebrandts; those are great places to start.
Oh I know man, I appreciate the tips you have given me so far. I'm not a big fan of the artwork, but I was just taking your advice I know, eventually I want to start making my own, but right now I'm just working with something kinda easy, learning the different tools, and after that I'll bump up to something better. Afterall, I've figured out (kinda) how to work with layers so once I do want to switch out, it SHOULDN'T be all that difficult. But I'm gonna keep on truckin! Thanks for the website by the way, I'll check them out!

Default Greatest story ever told

While warner's didn't do such a hot job on "King of Kings" cover art, the art work for "Greatest Story Ever Told" (Fox Connect) is
similar yet more appealing.

I would always, always rather use actual artwork instead of cut-out stills.

Blu Knight: Yes, he could do it that way if he wants it to be studio-official (and that's fine if he wants to make that choice). I'm just saying that we have the freedom not to be bound by studio templates here.
I guess Star Wars is a series where I haven't grown 'attatched' to any certain cover art. The ones with Darth/Stormtrooper/Yoda's heads on VHS were OK, but seem kind of plain. I like the 1997 cover art, but it's a little too flashy. I'll just have to wait and see what the inside of the complete saga set looks like. But like I said, anything is better than solid black with just the words Star Wars.
Oh, yeah. I also haven't decided yet if I want to make a cover for the whole saga, individual ones, or two separate covers (one for each trilogy). I kind of have a rule that if I haven't seen the final cover art, I don't make my own, because if I don't even end up using mine, making it will be a waste of time.

I'm just doing it to learn PS right now, I'm not going to spend hours and hours working on something that I have a lot of hope of using, to be let down by what it turns out to be... so I'm trying to take something kind of basic and just learn the tools. I'll do something better later on, if I decide its something I can get good at!

At least they're not as bad as the covers on the 2006 DVDs.
