Reverse importation will only be for Japanese audiences who want to watch the English dub. This actually happens with some Studio Ghibli films and International Editions of Square Enix games until DLC and multi-audio made International Edition re-releases obsolete unless they are doing remasters for newer consoles. Also, if I had counterarguments for "16mm in 4K would not look good", I present to you the 4K restorations of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Evil Dead. As well as some modern 16mm films in 4K like mother! and First Man (mostly in 16mm with some 35mm scenes of varying film types and one IMAX 70mm sequence). Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer was shot in 16mm and its 4K restoration is amazing even if it still doesn't have a 4K UHD release yet. Last edited by Hydra Spectre; 09-25-2021 at 10:47 AM. |

That's a real shame. Would have been a great addition to my collection.

Oh! hey, I was only joking, it was a tongue-in-cheek post - the new releases should be fairly decent, its just that everyone is whining so badly because the Fly Me to the Moon ED and episode tracks were removed from the series due to the insane licensing costs to re-use them. Also, the original ADV dub discs are only included in the Collector's and Ultimate releases; the standard release only has the Netflix dub discs. Other than that, you should be good to go - I'm really looking forward to getting my copy of the Ultimate Edition. I just wanted to pickup the original Platinum DVD release for completion's sake.

I might get either the Collectors or Ultimate edition then. Its a shame about the song, but I guess if I really wanna hear it, I'll just add it to my music collection. |

A reminder, it's not just an ending song, it's also used as an insert song in select episodes.

Boy, it really HAS been a while with that scene, as I don't remember the scene with that song being played.
Incidentally, I just watched Squid Game where it had two instances of playing "Fly Me to the Moon". On Netflix, of all places. And I feel the tiny flame of fury again. |

So which would be the best place to get the Collector's Edition? I was thinking going Gkids but never shopped with them before. I finally order something in the coming weeks as I will have my money I saved for 5 years in storage unit that has been forgotten about off and on.

Hey, svenge,
I have a very curious question. So, the JPN Blu-ray Box has the 2.0 LPCM option. Is this the laserdisc audio, broadcast or simply a fold-down of the renewal 5.1? The same for the films, are the the 2.0 options the original audio mixes? I'm sure the new international boxsets will have edited versions of the 2.0, but it's the 2015 BD set I'm wondering about. Lately, I've been on a kick of listening to original sound mixes for anime and movies. |

Thanks but I'll be fine once I get everything out of storage including my money I was forced to save in an unusual way.

That said, based off of the booklet from the Platinum singles and this circa-2015 Newtype Magazine article translation regarding the Eva TV Blu-ray set, I would infer that that the audio mixes were kept the same in terms of content between the Renewal DVDs and the Blu-ray releases in that the 5.1 audio mix had added background sounds/dialogue that weren't present on the 2.0 audio mix in either the "Renewal" DVDs or any prior releases. As for the four Rebuild films, I would assume that their respective 2.0 tracks are fold-downs of the original surround sound mixes but I have no data sources definitively indicating as such. Of course it's a much bigger deal to take old stereo mixes from 1995-96 and remap them to 5.1 audio, so obviously that process would be much better documented in general as compared to the creation of an auxiliary stereo mix that isn't even reflective of the work's original theatrical presentation. |
