How was the trigger switch supposed to make it do it on demand anyway? Both were fairly stupid making it an 'ordinary' nuclear weapon instead of the stability issue Bane and Pavel mention in dialogue.

Who cares? It was a cool flick and still one of the year's best, in my opinion.

This seems to be some kind of new internet phenomenon, where people on the internet take anything that isn't exhaustively explained, nor needs to be, call it a "plot hole" and whine about it to no end even though it's pretty obvious to anyone capable of thought (which is also why the director didn't spend 10 minutes digressing into the gory details)

I didn't detect any plothole in TDKR. Watched it twice already and I understand it perfectly. As for lacking logic, it's an action/adventure-film with sci fi elements, based on superhero-comics - what would possibly dictate that anything in it needs to be realistic or logical? I think it plays out fine.

I didn't think it was very good, but that doesn't make a narrative shortcut or a standard-issue movie trope a plot hole
![]() To me the serious issues were not any plot specifics, but the overall plot, the structure, the dialog, etc. Last edited by 42041; 01-04-2013 at 05:21 PM. |

I guess I need to reexamine the overall plot because I still don't have a problem with it. It's better than Ra's plot in Begins. Last edited by Jumpman; 01-04-2013 at 05:28 PM. |

I wouldn't call them plot holes either, but there are certainly scenes and plot elements that defy human logic. I mean, even the first few mins of TDK starts off with one glaring WTF. The Joker stuffs a grenade into the bankers mouth and he leaves it there??? There's nothing stopping him from spitting it out, or even better, using his hands which are completely free to throw it away. I doubt he was aware that it was a smoke/gas grenade and thus wouldn't explode, but even if he did, why would he leave it in his mouth? And then The Joker just drives the school bus perfectly in line with the rest of school buses and none of the other drivers hesitate for a second that this particular school bus is coming out of a bank wall.
So yeah, not plot holes, but really "turn your brain off and just accept it's a movie" kind of scenes. Last edited by MifuneFan; 01-04-2013 at 06:15 PM. |
