I agree with punisher that Pioneer players are worth going after.

Yes - underwhelming use of Atmos.

Even dialogue driven films like 'Gandhi' and 'Sense & Sensibility' from the Columbia Classics 4k UHD sets were more immersive than this..

Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere. During my first viewing of the UHD, when we get to the scene with Jack and Rose getting onto the door in the water, I noticed flashes of red in the water. A good example of this occurs at 2:46:47 - 2:46:56.

Did anyone else notice this?

yeah true but beside the point here since we are just focusing on color balance

For what it's worth - I whole-heartedly agree with you on the green tint. You are right, it does look dull, and a bit distracting. And It does suck how the colour grading has shifted more and more towards the green end of the spectrum with each release (though the grading for the 4k and 2012 bluray seems to be exactly the same, so it thankfully hasn't gotten even more green with the recent 4k!!)

But yeah - I'm sorry you're being antagonized about this. ****ing sucks how people are so quick to attack, about an opinion that is totally valid and plain to see. The sky SHOULD be blue - it's blue in the actual 35mm film strips I've got. In the trailers, TV spots, VHS release, and two previous DVD releases, blues are BLUE, whites are bright and warm, skin tones are natural and rich.

You are not wrong.

I'm catching up on old movies I haven't watched in a long time, and "Young Doctors in Love" was last on my rotation. I haven't seen it since it was on HBO a century ago. Anyway, I forgot there was a spitting contest scene in it. Did Jim lift his from this?

Seriously? I am still waiting for my copy, which arrives on Monday. From some of these screencaps, it doesn't look like a film shot in the 80's - 90's.

I will be blown away if most of the movie has a look similar to The Fugitive 4K, Terminator 1 Blu-ray, Safe House Blu-ray, Predator 4K, Misery 4k and so on, with a few random smooth parts. If this is like Batman Begins 4k Blu-ray, I will be perfectly fine with True Lies 4K.

But if it isn't an issue like Batman Begins 4k Blu-ray, meaning it doesn't have a filmic look like The Last Action Hero does, I am surprised to see you marvelling at this transfer.

I understand if it's just your opinion and how much you enjoy the new look though.

Random quote, but I'm talking about the VFX there, some folks thought it one notch above dogshit I had to say "nay!". But, as it happens, I like the UHD as well.

Thanks! Maybe it isn't as bad as Predator Blu-ray (remastered) or T2 4K. If i isn't to my liking, I'll repurchase True Lies from Spain.

Edit: sorry, for a minute I thought this was the True Lies thread.

No, it isn't as bad. Due to the native 4K scan, there's remarkable clarity and detail. The colour also looks much better as they removed the green wash over the image that was there on the 2012 Blu-ray. However, DNR and AI manipulation has been done. In scenes where an actor close to the camera moves their head, the detail on their forehead and cheeks disappear and the faces look very waxy. The detail on those parts returns when they stop moving their heads. Plus, there's some dialogues missing as well.

Thanks. It was my mistake as I thought I was in the True Lies thread. I haven't purchased the 4K disc of Titanic yet, but from the 4K version I skimmed through in iTunes, it looked good.

Knowing this was AI touched, it makes me wonder if I should just go back to the more purist option of the BD. Was the audio line missing on the US UHD on the old Paramount BD?

IIRC the BDs (both 1080p and 3D) were considered reference-quality at the time.

All three missing lines are present on the BD, as far as I know.

I wish the only problem with Cameron's films in UHD were missing lines, if you get my drift.

Any news Paramount is doing a disc replacement program for the missing audio?

Idk. It's just a question in my mind. I simply want to get hold.of the 4k disc from Paramount release rather than the Fox one so that I could house the discs into my Fox 3D steelbook.

However, after purchasing the US 4k Disc, I've sold it off on eBay.
