Get V 5.1 they are same price as the V mini and they are moreless following gen of the RC-10 just a tad more forward in the upper mids and absolutely beautiful looking too in high gloss black.

Seriously that is a steal Mike 199$ each and they are an upgrade over the RC-10

BTW, this is High Gloss Black Finish.

http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...y-v5-1-monitor
Yes the glossy finish is gorgeous isn't it. I did a quick search and found the Mini for 179, but it was the rosenut finish instead of black. The black is still 199. IDK, I just know I will be getting a sub next. My birthday is in Feb. so I will make a decision by then and see what is available.
At one point I was even considering getting a pair of 5.1 bookshelves for the fronts and moving my RC-10's to pull surround duty.

Edit, right after I wrote this I checked at vanns and they are all down to 179 now. hmmm, I may have to jump on a pair of 5.1's.

Yea, I'm starting to wonder if they wouldn't blend better with the RC-LCR center as well.

Worse case scenario put them as surrounds. for 40$ more a pair than the V-mini for me it's a no brainer.

I would go for the V5.1

I just checked at vanns and they are 179.99 now. Man, 359.98 total and no shipping is very very tempting. I even put it in the shopping cart. . I just couldn't press the checkout button.

Wait something weird just happened. I left for a while and came back and the price was back to 199. What in the world, that was strange.

OMG you are right what a steal seriously this is close to what you paid for the RC-10 isn't it?

BTW $279 now for the RC-10 it wont get better than that.

$399 for the veritas sub is almost worth it it's very fast and etremely accurate that sub. cheaper than the crappy ESW-C10 this is crazy and it blows it out of sthe water like there is no tomorrow. It's better than the S10.3 and the 10.3 was hell of a lot better than the C10.

Miker are you currently running 5.1 and wanting to upgrade to 7.1? I know you're considering surrounds between the RC10, V5.1 or V mini. If you're looking to upgrade I'd look to upgrade to towers for your mains. Maybe you could find a pair of used RC 30 or 50's. If you want a big upgrade go for the 70's at vanns. If you want to stay with bookshelf speakers I'd get another pair of RC 10's since you already have a pair plus the RC-LCR. While the V series is similar the finish is quite different. If i were you i'd be happier staying with RC series all around. Food for thought.

Yea, the RC-10 is also at an excellent price. I've been strongly considering that all week.

See, that's actually what I've been thinking all along is to just get another pair of RC-10's. I really do love mine and it's the cheapest route. They are a little bigger than what I would like for surrounds given my small room, but if I hang them on the wall with brackets they should be fine. In the end this may be the route I take. Yes I'm running a 5.1 setup BTW.

Just checked your gallery. I guess you are wanting to change the Infinities correct? I think RC 10's all around would be great. Doesn't look like the 10's are that much larger than your current surrounds either. For a while i had RC 10's as mains and surrounds. I thought they were fantastic. For their size i think you can't do much better. Plus at $279 for a pair you can't go wrong getting them now in my opinion.

Yes, that is correct, I want to replace the Infinitys. They actually sound quite good, but I would like to have a complete Energy setup all around.
I've been slowly upgrading over the past couple of years thanks to Steve, Olivier and others like yourself helping me out. I'm glad you chimed in due to your experience with both the RC and Veritas.

In addition, the RC's are 3 inches longer or deeper than the Infinity's.

I was in your shoes wanting to get a full Energy setup. I had the RC LCR and 4 RC 10's. I wanted to get the RC 70's when they were still on order at Vanns. Then the Veritas got discounted so i thought what the hey and jumped on them. I now use a set of RC 10's in my bedroom and as a secondary setup in my lower level. Even if the RC 10's don't fit perfectly i'd still get them. If you ever move out and get more room you'll be glad you have them.

My HT room is setup in a small spare bedroom, 10 x 10.5, thus the reason for going with bookshelves. I think I can make it work with some wall mounts.

I don't think he needs to move out, he just needs to tell the wife he's taking over the living room..

As it stands now it sounds fantastic. With an extra set of RCs and a 12" sub it's going to be insane.

Well Steve, I have another spare room that's a couple of feet larger, but we use it as a computer, storage, and exercise room, and the wife wants to keep it that way. That's ok, my little cave is just fine..

I have to apologize, I didn't look at the prices. I would get the V5.1s if they were the same price as the V-minis, or even if theyre just a little more $$. when I responded to your OP, I was on my phone.

One thing I was talking with Olivier about was getting a different pair of speakers other then Dyns as surrounds because then I could use them to switch up my Mains when it comes to music so that I don't always have to listen to the same speakers all the time... For Instance, for movies leave my Dyns up front with my Center channel, but for music, I could interchange my Dyns with say Totem Rainmakers. That way I can have 2 different sounds for music so I never get bored....

My point of that is the V5.1s could possibly do the same for you. The Veritas is a little more forward, but might match enough that you woudln't notice a huge difference in HT, but then for music, you could go back and forth depending on your mood and tastes that day.

YES, Im a mad scientist in my spare time.

I had my old setup in the living room for years, but when I purchased my 47" Toshiba TV, believe it or not the wife didn't want it in the living room because she likes her entertainment center and the 27" tv, so I started moving everything into the small bedroom and began upgrading from there.
