Ah, that's what I did wrong. I never visited the home page, I always linked straight to the products page of the site, and it never showed the sale price there. 499 shipped is a real good deal on that sub. Oh well, there's always another one. I could always either upgrade later or add another sub. But for my small 10 x 10 1/2 space that VTF-1 should be more than sufficient to start with.

do you have that sub at the house yet? It would be nice to hear your impressions on it.

Still waiting on it Steve, it shouldn't be much longer. It's 2 PM now and I think they pass around mid afternoon, but I guess it depends on how many stops he has to make. I know they are busy.

I'm going to set it up in the left front corner and hopefully re-run audyssey on the setup this afternoon before the wife gets home, while the house is nice and quiet.

Anyone know the reason the new Veritas speakers are being heavily discounted so early?

Imo to drive sales volume. But it seems that only vanns.com is the one discounting so heavily.

I agree with what Callas said. Few people were jumping on the veritias while the RC series was still selling so well at Vanns. Most believed they were just RC clones with a different finish and inflated pricing. With pricing more in line with the RC now quite a few people are picking them up and stating their impressions of them thus encouraging more people to try them out. The sale pricing ends at the end of the year. Still I doubt many will buy at msrp and wait for the sale again. That's just speculation on my part however.

Thanks for the replies. I've been keeping an eye on the Vann's sale since it started. Those prices are really tempting. I've heard & loved the sound from the CB-10 before, but the dealer has since gone out of business( so no way to demo the RC-series or the Veritas series ). I've been reading the Energy thread over on AVSforum, trying to figure out which I'd like more. I like the appearance of the Veritas series slightly better than the RC series, but wouldn't mind upgrading my entry level bedroom speakers to either( as long as they provide the smooth highs I heard from the CB-10 ). Of course, because of space constraints, the fronts will be in soundbar formation( underneath the TV ).

Possible combinations?

( 2 x RC10, RCLCR, 2 x VS )

( 3 x RCLCR, 2 x VS )

( 2 x V5.1, V5.2C, 2 x VS )

( 3 x V5.2C, 2 x VS )

( 3 x V5.1, 2 x VS )

Well, I went ahead and submitted my order for another pair of RC-10's for my surrounds. I'll have a full Energy setup, with the exception of my recent addition of the HSU sub of course.
They are doing free 2 day shipping on them today so hurry if you want a pair.

Thanks guys, that sub has really improved the overall sound of my setup for sure. I can hear deep rumbles now where my old sub would just pop and flutter. Very nice deep and tight bass now. Should receive the RC-10's in a couple of days and Ill run audyessy once more.

I realize I've said this several times already, but I really do appreciate you guys helping me pull this setup together over the last couple of years. I never thought I would have a quality setup like this and it's all due to you guys helping me out so thanks again. You guys

Hey Olivier, I just checked your gallery and noticed your towers. I'm sure they sound just as good as they look. You and Steve are really coming along in your upgrades as well.

My wife just asked me if my upgrades are over..

Yea, I plan on updating my gallery soon. I took a few photos while unpacking the sub last night. I will upload some new shots in a day or two.

Hehe Thanks Mike, yeah slowly but surely I love the new towers Mike they are a lot better than anything I could have ever imagine for me. Those are not cheap at retail price but I got them for nearly half the price and theyare in absolute Mint condition they are literally as good as new.

Hi Zippo, I think your bedroom setup is awesome as it is personally. If you're considering Energy speakers i'll give you my opinion on them. I've been fortunate enough to have setups of the CF/CB, RC, and Veritas speakers from Energy. I've never had a full setup of Def Tech speakers but i do have a pair of BP1.2x surrounds from them. You mentioned you heard the CB10 and liked them a lot. I'm not totally surprised because in my opinion the CF/CB series has somewhat similar sound characteristic from the limited time i've demo'd Def Tech speakers. By this i mean the tweeters are brighter and more forward sounding compared to the RC and Veritas lines. The RC and Veritas lines are much more smooth and linear in their frequency response. I'd say the tweeters are more laid back compared to the CF/CB line. It's a personal preference but i think i like the RC and / or Veritas a tad better than the CF/CB. Room acoustics play a big factor though.

Now if you are to compare those two lines directly the new Veritas are a bit more forward sounding than the RC but are still smooth and neutral. You have a lot of black going on in your room so either the black ash RC's or the piano black Veritas will go quite well from an asthetic point of view. If you want your speakers to really pop visually in your room get the rosenut Veritas.

I can't say you wouldn't be happy with any of the combinations you listed. If you want somewhat similar sound to the Def Tech's, the Veritas will be closer than the RC's just because they are a tad more forward sounding (to me). The RC's are priced VERY well right now. The Veritas will be around longer as they are newer and may carry a higher resale value down the road should you choose to sell them. Don't know if that helped you or not but i thought i'd share my opinion from my own experiences with what i have.

Ugh, need some advice. Do I send my Veritas Bookshelves and Center back to Vanns and upgrade to the RC-70s? If I do, I wont be able to afford the RC-LCR just yet though and I love the looks of the Veritas. I could always just grab the Veritas towers later and add them to my system when I can afford them, and I will already have the Bookshelves and the Center. Decisions, Decisions.

I figure shipping the speakers back to Vanns will be another $100 so I guess I have to factor that in as well.
