I used to be this way as well but after a few similar experiences as to what GasmaskAvenger is currently going through without replacement, I decided that keeping things sealed until I was ready to watch the discs just wasn't that important. Now everything purchased gets opened and checked on the ole PC within a few days in order to ensure that it plays well so that in the event something was manufactured poorly I can request a replacement copy while I still have the receipt fresh in hand.

Some do but, in my experience, a lot of people just love music and don't expect a song to perfectly fit into every situation where it is used. I remember watching season one of Roswell, the good one from around 2000, and a song came on, totally wrong for the scene, in terms of words, but, somehow, wonderful in the scene. I remember the same thing happening when a party song came on in Murder, She Wrote. Listen too carefully to the words and it means something completely wrong for that moment.

It's weird but I both agree and disagree. Many people stop, in passing, at the surface, given a lack of time and interest. Those same people dive deep, given the time and inclination. I think people are motivated more by time, or lack thereof, than some kind of pervasive, perpetual, surface-dwelling mentality.

Still visualize the same thing, a moderately slutty girl rolling around a bed full of money, while some dude in the background does something illegal.

If you really like nature stuff, I'd start watching it. You won't want to stop. A lot of the other nature docs they do are awesome too. I enjoyed Frozen Planet, Africa, and Hidden Kingdoms as well. Haven't seen the newer ones. Also have the 3D Enchanted Kingdom to watch still. You also don't have to watch it all at once, but you might want to.

That being said, I just ordered The Redeemer.

$23.99 is an amazing price for such an older Code Red blu.

My unwatched pile is beginning to stress me out - I just did a quick headcount and very close to half of my collection has yet to be viewed (though, I must admit that I have actually seen the majority of these movies - I don't do too many blind buy purchases - so I have the discs in the off chance I ever want to watch them again).

I am going on 3 years in the unwatched pile for some of them.

The unwatched pile is a huge reason I've DRASTICALLY cut spending on Blu Ray discs so far this year. If I can't even get to my unwatched pile how will I even get around to watching the watched pile more than once.

Chaos and the Code Red titles I own are all 100% playback error free, so me having a badly engineered pressing of The Last Victim is totally a pure "margin of error" screwup I don't really blame you for.
You bought Chaos? We'll send you out a replacement for The Last Victim right away.

My backlog is currently at 864 titles, this doesn’t include titles I’ve preordered or recently ordered and haven’t received yet so it’s probably closer to 875. I’m still catching up on discs that I bought in 2014... I’m not sure I’ll ever catch up...

My oldest unwatched title is currently the Planet Earth set in case you were wondering. 537 minutes is a lot of time to set aside so it’ll probably stay that way for a long while. I do need to make time to watch Kill or Be Killed though, it’s near the top of my watch list.
Understandable. Forgot you guys buy tons of movies at a time. We'll take good care of Gas Mask Avenger. No worries.

I can relate, i had to buy an entire shelf tower for unmatched blus as kind of Netflix cue and it was completely filled on day 1. Now i have two and they’re both full of unwatched purchases from the last 3.5 years

That's actually the smart thing to do TripleHBK but at Dark Force we see many repeat customers that buy lots of titles and we completely understand that it may take a while before watching them. So we will always cater to the side of the customer.

dave,

in all seriousness, have you and bill looked into securing ICED? besides the semi-constant requests for it, i see back and forth about its so-called current format, and if it was edited on video vs. film, etc., so i guess i'd like to know definitively if this is an impossible title to secure and if it's going to require a lot of restoration to make happen for HD.

So I can tell that this is meant in the spirit of good fun, designed to get a laugh, but I bet someone out there, not David, will think you're trying to start crap and report you. Remember when people still laughed?

It would be nice if the next one is a step up in quality. I know you can do it, Demon Dave! Be a hero! Do it for the fans.

I love this kind of Drive In stuff too, but don't own any of the DF drive in discs.

What precisely is on them? How much of that intermission goodness is there?

Can anyone fill me in on the best titles that feature these?

the intermission on the the dark force in blu-rays is actually really long and a lot better than what you typically get in these type of drive in blus. I would say around 15-20 minutes or so of vintage footage (concessions etc) & trailers in the later ones.

If you are going to give one a shot I'd start with the God's Bloody Acre Blu, good intermission and massive improvement from old CR DVD.

The first one with Chaos/Don't Look in the Basement contains a vintage drive-in intermission. It's ten minutes long featuring a countdown and other filler. I'd recommend this one. The version of Don't Look in the Basement is pretty rough looking. It's faded and heavily damaged but it does retain a natural filmic quality at least.

I went to a screening of Don't Look in the Basement in March. By this time I had already seen the version on the drive-in double feature. So naturally I was curious to see how this 35mm presentation would look in comparison. Before the screening we were told that the print was very rough, but that it was the best looking print in existence. As the film spooled I noticed it had the same title card as the drive-in version - okay. Then I started noticing the same exact print damage and anomalies present on disc. It was the same exact print

The Brink release uses exactly the same print too, except with extremely aggressive DNR added.

Is the intermission from Chaos/Don't Look the same as the one from God's Bloody Acre?

If they are equal, I'd consider the God's Bloody Acre over Chaos as a film experience.
