everyone I know who has tried to adopt has been successful. yes it's expensive, but fertility treatment isn't?

to spend so much money and time and effort into a frankensteinian process JUST so you can have something that is "of your blood" is the definition of selfishness and being an egomaniac.

well what can we expect, we live in a society where we spend thousands on some inbred problem prone "purebred" dog and let perfectly good dogs in shelters get put down and then we dare to proclaim ourselves "dog lovers".

I have two children from adoption...it was not expensive...I can tell you that....the state refunds almost 90% of your costs when it is finalised. I have never understood that argument.

Were your children born in America?

My friends that have adopted from overseas have spent up to $20,000, depending on the country and sex of the child. That's not necessarily "a lot" of money, but it's nothing to sneeze at.

Having children comes very easy to some; for others, it's a hellish experience that comes with negative results time and time and time again.

Who are you to judge them?
I think he means in regards to this situation.

There are other options out there rather than fertility drugs {like adoption}

But to pop out 8 kids using fertility drugs, it's going a little overboard.

Why are you even participating in this thread? Bored?
Same reason I am likely... curiosity as to why people are that morbid that they'd want to watch a show which basically amounts to people getting tortured. The kids might end up being really strange because of it.

To me it would appear that these shows are pretty close to Intervention with regards to how seemingly morbid it is.

There are plenty of needy children right here in the US that need homes. Why spend all that money?

There's still a difference between the bond that's formed from having your own child and adoption that is most likely impossible for someone who hasn't experienced it to understand.

And yeah, on the dog front? We have an Australian Shepherd\Beagle mix we adopted from the Humane Society.

Honestly, I agree. I occasionally stop on the show for a few minutes but it's kind of painful to watch- my wife can't stand Kate and I think she's a total @#$%^.

Heh, ever tried adoption here locally? It's not as easy as going and adopting a dog. Many people want babies (and hey, when they're adopting I think it's their right to choose) and there is a huge wait for that as well.

It's not a lot of money to them, but I have no idea why they wanted to adopt from overseas.

So they already had 2 kids, and wanted that THIRD kid for whatever retarded selfish reason, it didn't happen naturally and they wanted it soooo badly that they used FERTILITY treatments to create 6 more monsters???!!

is that right?

Yeah, we adopted from our own state. It is not difficult at all...and only cost about $5k, of which $4500 the state reimburses, plus, its a write-off AND you get even more if you adopt a sibling set due to the higher cost the state has trying to keep them together.

There are soooooo many myths about adoption that it is sad. We didn't have any hoops really to jump through...just the basic necessities of life... food, shelter and clothing...and prove you aren't a child molester or wanted felon.

If a young couple in their mid twenties with three children of their own can adopt two children from the system, that means any "normal" person can, also.

Actually, they used fertility drugs the first time around and had twins, then figured to use them again.
