b) it's not directed by Rob Zombie
c) it doesn't star Christian Bale

Unless Ridley Scott is involved, and I mean really involved, not associate, executive, 2nd cousin of the script writer involved - I won't see it.

Wasn't this brought up a few weeks back? It seems like Deja Vu to me. I said, I'm cool with it if it focuses on the Delect Ship and that Creature that merged with it's seat.

If this is gonna be a prequel to Alien, here's what I don't get.......why do they need the Ripley character? The Nostromo crew had no idea what they came across in the first film. If this new film is indeed a prequel to the rest of the series and Ripley is in it, then she would've come across the Aliens prior to "Alien". If this is the case, it makes no sense at all.

cameron and weaver are not involved. ripley won't be a character in the prequel. ridley scott is producing, though.

Hollywood does a lot of things that doesn't make since.

OP note has been added. It has been several that Ripley will not appear in the prequel.

i know

...i only hyped it because it's pretty big news but i myself am still fairly disappointed. seems like prequels of great classics are the new thing these days. i admit i am interested to see 1) the newly cast lead and 2) the 1st trailer.

i have to say, while i would prefer this series was just left alone now, having ridley scott involved is a definite step in the right direction.
