Default Nintendo Wii & PS3 owners

I just had a PS3 for a long time but a couple months back i finally broke down and got a wii..And its actually pretty fun. Me & my wife have friends come over and play bowling and its pretty competitive and funny.

I downloaded alot of the old mario games which is a good reason to have one..i have

super mario bros.
super mario bros 2
super mario bros 3
super mario world
super metroid
& donkey kong

I enjoy having both the systems...ps3 for blu rays and games and the wii just for fun games and old school ones.

I purchases mario galaxy, resident evil 4 & the new punch out.
All of those games surprisingly fun.

Just wondering what games you guys have & what downloaded old school games you have and suggest....from a ps3/wii owners perspective.

My friend brought a Wii over to play some weeks ago, I said "Over my dead body" and we played Goldeneye and Mario Kart on my N64 instead.

No Wiimote or nunchuk is getting anywhere near my TV. You kidding? Bunch of drunk college students? I've seen enough videos on youtube to say, "No wii-playing in my household"

hahahaha well thats why you wear the strap for your wrist.

But yea i always was against the wii...But my wife & son always wanted one and i have a ps3..felt like i would share the love..and now that we got it..i actually enjoy it myself. It has free online and connects to the net wireless like my ps3 does....i thought about getting a xbox but will not pay for online and will not pay for a wireless adapter...i mean cmon the wii is wireless at least lol. But yea anyone that likes the old school stuff will like the wii just for that purpose...i still love playing super mario world.

I have all three systems, (like options ) my favorites for each system are: Xbox 360 Gears of War, Wii Punch Out, and PS3 Infamous.

Same.

I eBayed Mario Galaxy and this game Endless Ocean, which is where you dive in the ocean. It was fun for a weekend, but lost its charm.

Lego Star Wars and Star Wars: Force Unleasehd are pretty great, too.

As for downloaded games, I think I have:

- All the Marios you listed
- Mario 64
- Mario Kart 64
- Gradius
- Tecmo Bowl (HUGE letdown; none of the teams/players are the same due to licensing)
- Zelda
Maybe a few others that I can't recall right now.

I like the WII, but after about 4 months of playing it, it's literally never touched anymore. I can honestly say it has been turned on once in the last 4-5 months.

I have the following systems..

PS3
Wii
N64
SNES
NES

I have minimal games for all. For the Wii, I have downloaded all the classics like all the Marios, some Mega Man, Sonic and the like.

That's what I meant from my earlier thread. A family member gave me a Wii 2 years ago cause I'm a gamer and they thought it would be a great gift. I played it once and it's been collecting dust ever since.

I've played and beaten The Legend of Zelda tons of times, but just picked it up the other night on the emulator on one of my HTPCs. I've been utilizing the saved state function quite nicely. To those who have downloaded Zelda through Virtual Console on the Wii: how do you like it? How do game saves work?

The Virtual Console version of The Legend of Zelda is not the original NES release, but instead the updated version featured in 2003's The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition compilation disc for GameCube. The core gameplay is identical to the original game, however it features the save screen and text changes made to the 2003 version, such as the opening intro text and copyright date.

You could always save your game in The Legend of Zelda, using battery-backed data recording units in the old-school NES cartridge. But doing so and stopping your game sent you back, back to the starting area in the overworld, depleting your life meter back down to three hearts. That was always a bit annoying – but here, it's gone. Simply use the Home Button to pause the emulation whenever you want to take a break, and your progress will be restored to the exact point where you left off, the next time you call the game up from your channel array.

Pretty much most the games i have on virtual console when i want to stop playing i just use the home button then go to the wii menu and turn it off...Then when i go back into the game it literally starts you right where you was at in the game when you stopped..which i think is pretty cool.
And excite bike you can save your tracks you create and all that too.

I have the game myself on the VC and other than the save feature being totally better its identical to the original to me & it looks awesome on a big LCD or plasma.
IGN gave zelda on the virtual console a 9.0 outstanding also.

Very interesting. I had no idea it was a rehash of the original; I thought it was a straight-up port of the original. I'm not sure if I just became more interested in downloading it after reading that or less. So confused now!

I remember all those things about playing the original cartridge version. I hated that. Emulation is the way to go these days; computers are so much more reliable as well. I can't tell you how many times I saved a game of Zelda and then went to play it again only to find the game not saved.

So it sounds like what they did is what they did for "Mario All-Stars" that came out for SNES back in the day, where the games were "the same" but the sprites and levels were enhanced with better graphics. Did I interpret that correctly?

I have finished legend of zelda many times back on NES. I have not played it in a while on nes tho but the virtual console version seems to be identical IMO. But the save function makes the game a must for me. Only draw back is you dont have the fold out map that came with the original and you dont have the cool golden cartridge

smash bros and mario kart were the only games i've played on the wii. It's only been played a few times. My PS3 on the other hand has tons of mileage on it from blu-rays and street fighter 4

Well as I expected , I haven't used my wii much since I bought it. I find myself not having that much fun by myself and can only play about 30 mins. When I'm with friends it's a different story.

I bought it in April and have played it less than 10 x since I got it. Makes me mad because I was expecting to play it more but haven't. Made me even more mad when I saw the Sony press conference.

I tried the wii resort at my friends place and it is quite fun and I might pick that up to give it a try. NHL2k10 has gotten good reviews and I might pick that up as well. If the new releases were cheaper, I would probably pick up more games but can't justify a 50$ game that looks like crap compared to my PS3 games.

I'm right there with you on the cost of Wii games. The same can really be said of any console if you ask me: all the games are overpriced. I don't look to much into how the games look graphically, as I'm more about the play value of the game, but yeah I'd say the PS3 and XBOX both school the Wii in graphics. I have a lot of fun with mine, though, and I do play it a lot on my own.
