The first Matrix is the best. It's an original concept at the time. 2 and 3 had good action sequences but the story was jumbled in some places.
The main thing that the action in 2 and 3 are great for is the fights between Neo and Agent Smith. This is the kind of action that should be a template for movies like Superman Returns. Evenly matched opponents and earth-shattering combat. |

1 - 2 - 3 for me
The freeway scene in 2 was the best 15 minute action sequence in any movie for me, from the time neo fights the werewolfs/vampires in the house to when neo flys by and saves the keymaker/morpheus... It almost makes up for how ridiculous and out of place the neo vs 100 smiths fight was... |
