Love this movie! I almost pulled a trigger on the import several times but held off hoping for an official US release. I'm still plenty satisfied with the DVD which has gotten plenty of play time the last 6 years.

This blu needs to be planned for release. This movie was so amazing. Probably my favorite Bale movie.

If this comes out in September in Canada, then for sure a U.S. version has to be coming out. I only hope so! Such a great movie.

I wouldn't hold my breathe on a Canadian "quality" release.

If you love the movie, do yourself a favor and get the Japanese import.

Or hope that the US does it's own release sometime...

Canadian Release

We'll know either the day of release(Sept. 1) or in the days just before whether the disc is the proper ratio etc. Alliance never "annouces" their blus, they just appear.

Silly question I'm sure, and I believe I already know the answer. But being this is the first time I have considered the importing option, I just want to make certain. The Japanese version does have the original English track on the disc correct? I can't stand watching a movie that is dubbed. If I am going to watch a movie such as Oldboy for example, I am going to watch the Korean track. A dubbed movie for me just isn't quite as enjoyable.

I'm pretty sure it's in English, but I'm not sure if it has forced subtitles. Maybe someone else knows?

Any FX shot will be cropped to fit the modified aspect ratio of 1.78:1, as the FX shots are only rendered at the theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1.

You may not be "losing" any image with the exception of FX shots, but you are losing the original framing because a close-up would become a medium shot, etc, and the positioning of the characters and objects of interest in a frame would be messed up, because you are seeing extra information on the top and bottom of the frame that was never intended to be shown.

The primary track is English 5.1 TrueHD, there are no forced subtitles.

You'll change your mind once you see it. I couldn't wait and ordered it from YesAsia.com. I'll probably buy a official U.S. release whenever that comes.

I didn't rate the movie as high as everybody else, but I'm sure it'll be an eventual buy.
