Yeah I have a feeling it could be one of my favorite films in 2012 and that's saying a lot considering what's being released.

I still don't really know anything about this project so I can't make that same statement, as I am very excited for Hunger Games, Batman Rises and Amazing Spider-Man, BUT I do expect to enjoy the hell out of this, whatever it is.

Yeah I know nothing but what I have read which isn't much and the concept art which looked really cool. Maybe I will just enjoy this movie and not love it like you said and I could be jumping the gun early. I'm looking forward to Spider-Man, Hunger Games, Hobbit, Men in Black 3, Man of Steel and possibly the 24 movie if Brian Grazer and Sutherland are correct that it will be released next Summer which I know I will love all those and JCoM could end up being a good way to spend 2 hours.

Trailer. Awesome trailer and even more excited now. Just hope it's not another Prince of Persia in terms of BO.

Looks spectacular!

I hope it does well, however, I think audience might struggle to connect with it's very brooding serious tone with the trailer

However, that cover of My Body is a Cage is lame

I read the three books out of anticipation for this about two years ago. It was a fun read and the material should make for a good time at the movies.

My biggest problem is Mars doesn't look exotic or even red enough. It looks like it could take place in the American west, aside from the shot of the green alien. They don’t even mention Mars at all. It’s now pretty clear why they renamed it to “John Carter” - they don’t want people to know!

I expected Lynn Collins’ character to look redder though I guess it doesn’t surprise me they wanted the female lead to look human - and wear clothes for that matter.

I also expected the Tharks (the green aliens) to look more intimidating. They seem kind of scrawny here.

The guys back at Slashfilm saw clips of the movie and said it was much more exciting than the teaser trailer. They also said that Stanton told them he didnt want to show too much, hence why they dont show much of the settings in the teaser trailer, which is a TEASER.

Trailer is really bad.

This simply doesn't look as gritty as it should.

I really want this one to be great. I'm very surprised that the guy who has always worked on animated (non-real) feature films has opted to go the "realistic" approach on what is clearly a fantasy.

I hope this teaser is not indicative of the extent of the "realistic" approach on the entire movie. I want to see sh!t I have never seen before!

What makes me nervous from the teaser are two scenes: (1) When the soldiers are giving chase on horses, the landscape is exactly the same as when (2) JC wakes-up in, what I assume is Mars!!! Then he says "Where am I?" WTF?? I hope that it is a cool teaser twist and that JC is actually still on earth, which would explain him still wearing clothes and that there is actually a different wake-up on Mars scene.... wishful thinking. BUT.... I for one am going to give this movie the benefit of the doubt, all the way until I watch it for myself!

I just watched the trailer without audio. I agree 100% , I thought this was on Earth, in a desert setting. Absolutely nothing exotic about it aside from the space ships and scrawny green CGI guy.

In a very selfish way I hope that this fails - then perhaps Stanton will permanently go back to directing animated films at Pixar.

Yes, I love WALL-E ............
