If it's anything like the Oppo DVD player I had, I'll pass. I never did understand the Oppo hype by everyone. My 6 year-old JVC DVD player had a much better picture (to me) than my Oppo, and that one did not even upscale. $500 for a BD player these days is ridiculous. My choice for a stand-alone remains the Panasonic BD-60, as soon as Costco drops it to <$150. Until then, my PS3 is just fine.

I have read several pages of the thread and all I have found so far is that some are having issues with PAL playback. Unfortuantely, the posts did not specify if they were using PAL playback on an NTSC monitor which is why I asked for the clarification. If I could get my BD-60 to play PAL I would probably skip the Oppo.

It will play PAL natively or convert to 60Hz for NTSC displays. I have plenty of BDs that are 50i and have played them with no issues at all.

Awesome, thanks for the reply Kris. I'm assuming the same is true for DVD's as well? This is great news. It looks like I'll be returning the BD60 after all.

I also has a panny 60 also on order too, my receiver need to repaid to due hdmi port 2 no audio and is using 40 watts in stand by mode. Oppo support 7.1 anaglo which i can still use my 7.1 speaker iin the mean time.

I did some watts test lately, and i find out ps3 use about 180-230 watts. While the Panny Bd60 use only 16 watts average, so basically ps3 use 10-12 times more watts to watch the same blu-ray. That is just major difference, also consider heat and noise added from ps3.

Default Wireless adapter with the Oppo?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a wireless adapter for the Oppo? I have a wireless network in my house, but I really don't want to run the ethernet cable into the living room just for the player. This is really the only thing stopping me from buying this player since a few wireless players are already out. Has anyone use a wireless adapter with the Oppo and been pleased with the results?

You would need a wireless bridge

In the OPPO manual they recommend either a wireless bridge or a gaming router.

If you don't mind an ethernet connection you can get the sling links. I set them up at client's homes before and they work without any configuration. They are power over Ethernet. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1179876185243

You do understand that 7.1 analog-outs are not simply speaker plug-in's, right? You connect analog-out to analog-ins locatated on AVRs that actually have them. There is very little need to have them if you are using HDMI connections.

Same price as Oppo's wireless bridge. Does look like a nice piece of tech though.

Just buy a WRT54GL from Newegg and flash it with DD-WRT or Tomato third party firmware. After doing so you can set the router up in a wireless bridge configuration which will provide you wireless access for all of your connected devices. I have attached links for the router and the two firmware options. Some like DD-WRT better and some like Tomato better, in the end it's up to you. BTW, feel free to read the reviews on the router if you're not convinced. Good luck.

So, I've had my BDP-83 for almost two months and am lovin' it!!! Just got the Billy Joel SACD and Elton John DVD-A and have a question about the Elton DVD. How do you get to the bonus tracks? I click the bonus tracks selection and it just goes back to the main menu. Do I have a bad disk? Any help???
