The East is definitely turning out to be a very competitive division. I thought the Als were gonna walk away with it and the Cats would easily get 2nd, but now that the Bombers got Bishop it could be a tight three team race. I missed the Bombers game on Saturday cause of my fantasy football draft, but they only won 13-12 so did they look good?

I know that the TSN Power Rankings don't mean anything, but I gotta ask, how can the Cats be 5th and be behind the Esks, Stamps & Riders? The Als should be in first, no doubt, and we'll find out if the Cats are better than Edmonton on Saturday, but the Stamps & Riders? I guess when we get them on the field and beat them we'll finally get some respect.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the skepticism surrounding Hamilton since we haven't had a good team in 6 or 7 years, but we're 5 weeks in and they have looked good in every game except the opener against Toronto. They even looked good in the loss to the Als and were in that game from whistle to whistle.

Guess we're just gonna have to kick the Esks' ass this weekend to finally get our due.

I always found that there is a bit of a biase for the west in many sportscasters who cover the CFL. Might be because the west as been dominant a lot in the last 30 years?

Bishop came out runnin and gunnin. However working out and game shape are 2 completely different things. His legs were like lead by half time. The bomber offence also dumbed down the play book since Bishop only had a few days of practice. This allowed Toronto to figure us out pretty quick.

Our defense played great and created 7 turnovers. At crunch time, Bishop moved the ball into field goal position to take the lead. That was huge, because even though Toronto botched their potential game winning field goal with a time count violation, Bishop DID give us the chance to win. Lefors and Randall wouldn't of. I don't count Williams in the coversation because just like Dinwiddie, Williams didn't get a fair shot.

As for power ranking, the Cats need to beat another solid team before the TSN panel realizes they exist.

The same thing goes for players of the week. Shabazz is ball hawk and intercepted 2 more passes, and they were ballhawk grabs. He has great hands. No love for defensive player of the week.

True enough, and I can understand that mode of thinking (it's why NE are Super Bowl favourites every year), but it's a new year and right now the East & West look even at worst.

Thanks for the wrap up Grumpz.

The bolded is so true. I don't get why he never gets a legitimate shot to start for a team. He played well for us when he was in Hamilton and I never understood why the team never let him run with the starting job. I thought our loss would be Winnipeg's gain, but they treated him just like the Cats did.

Looking forward to the game tonight between the boatmen & the Al's, should be a interesting game. The AL's need to respond after last week lost.

I think we can all call this one an Als win right now. Toronto just looks bad and Joseph has zero confidence right now; he looks done.

Game of the week has to be in Hamilton between the 3-2 Cats and 3-2 Esks. If by some miracle the Arg-holes pull out the win tonight, this game becomes that much more interesting. I expect a close one between the Cats & Esks, but I think with it being at Ivor Wynne the Tabbies will pull it out.

Another interesting game will be Winnipeg & Calgary. Both at 2-3 and Calgary has been very inconsistent so far this year. Another week of practice for Bishop makes him that much better for the Bombers and a Winnipeg win could really make this a race in the East.

The way things are shapping up in the East, we could have a 3 teams race to the finish. I am 41 years old, been watching the CFL for most of my life and I can't recall such a thing in the Eastern Division. This might actualy help the Al's. The last 10 years there as been too many times where they ran away early with the lead and you could see just how over confident they were getting and got burn late or in the playoffs.

Not just good for the East, but for the whole league.

The Als seem to finally have some competition for the first time since the Cats went to back-to-back Grey Cups in '98 & '99. I know that other teams have stepped up (The 2001 Blue Bombers spring to mind) but since the beginning of the 2000s Montreal has pretty much had their way with the East.

I know I'm gonna sound like a homer here, but when the Ti-Cats are good I can't think of a better place to be than Ivor Wynne. I know the Westerners are nuts for the CFL and from what I've been told the atmosphere in Montreal is phenomenal, but when the Cats get going the crowds at Ivor Wynne are a site to behold. The Cats finally being good is good for the CFL.

The East being competitive is what the CFL needs. As a fan of an East Division team I get sick of hearing how great the West is or how dominant the West is. I know it's been mostly deserved, but now that the East is fielding teams other than Montreal that are beating West Division teams, I'm ecstatic. The CFL needs this because people will get bored of the same old, same old. Now we have a very competitive team in Hamilton and Winnipeg looks to be on the up swing (screw Toronto) so the race is the East is going to be great.

Megatron, you are a homer! But we all are, aren't we?

The Al's are the Al's, well coached and almost always in it. Also somewhat lucky in terms of the injury bug.

Hamilton and Winnipeg are both at a very fragile state. Hamilton is very young, which doesn't take much to burst that bubble. Winnipeg continue's to have qb's issues (it's been a decade now) and are still trying to gel since 3/4's of the team has been flipped.

Toronto could sneak in if either team faulters. They picked up a couple of decent receivers.

I don't care about the west! They only matter in a cross over and it's too early in the season to even consider that.

GO BLUE!

Nothing wrong with being a homer, been to many Al's games over the years, it's never been better then since they moved to Molson Stadium. Been to Ivor Wynne a few times and always had a heck of time there. Been many times to Frank Clair Stadium AKA Lansdowne Park in Ottawa. It's 90 mins away and seen many games there over the years. Toronto well since the Boatmen moved to Rogers Center all I can say is that it as no atmosphere in that place. They should move back to Varsity Stadium.

Normally I wouldn't post anything during a game, but I'd hardly call what I'm watching a game.

All good points Grumpz. I know you posted this before the game, but after tonight's drubbing I don't consider Toronto a factor.

Happy to hear you've been to Ivor Wynne. I plan to go to Montreal for the game this year, as well as Toronto the week after Labour Day.

I was once was booed at mid field at an Arg-hole game when I screamed "Go Ti-Cats" into a mic while I was on field for a contest. I got booed by 35,000 people and I stood there and took it all in. IT WAS AWESOME!! But the SkyDome (I refuse to call it Rogers Centre) sucks for a game. Really comfy seats, but as you said, the atmosphere sucks.

I wish they would've gone to Varisty, but the stupid Royal Conservatory of Music said no because of all the noise the reconstruction would've caused so UofT said no. I'm a student there, and was when this happened, and I was pissed. I hate the Arg-holes, but I would've loved to leave work (I work at Robarts Library -- the main library on campus if you've never been there) and head 2 minutes east to go to a game against my Tabbies. Alas, it was not to be.

Is anyone else surprised that we have no West Division team fans on here? Hell, we don't even have any Arg-hole fans which is surprising to me.

Game just completed, Al's 25 - Argos 0. Argos just look horrible, no rythm at all. The Al's defense just destroyed them.

How about those Als Cheerleaders!

They have to be the prettiest cheerleaders in CFL with The Stampeders cheerleaders.

It's hard to beat les petites Quebecoise for beauty

Now I will see if I can stay awake to watch the second game out in Vancouver but I don't think I will make it to the end.
