First up will be a pair of Real Traps' "Ideal Corner Kits", each of which comprises a corner Mondo Trap and a pair of Tri-Corners. These will closely followed (if they're not ordered at the same time) by 2 or 4 RFZ Panels, and probably a couple more Mondo Traps behind my speakers (though I might go for Mini Traps here to save a few bucks). |

Finally another member with RTiA series speakers!
![]() Erm, I would agree with BigDaddy. You have nice new receiver with all the bells and whistles. Your system should sound really nice just the way it is for a long time. My 6 year old "old skool" Denon receiver was sounding "tired" so I picked up a Emotiva UPA-7 amp and it brought my system back to life. Unless of course you have wads af cash to blow, then by all means, go for it! ![]() |

hey guys im back. ive been checking out some amps and ive got a question
i see this listed in the specs: • 5 channels - 8 ohm= 200 watts per channel • 4 channels - 8 ohm = 230 watts per channel • 3 channels - 8 ohm = 250 watts per channel • 2 channels - 8 ohm = 275 watts per channel • 1 channel - 8 ohm = 300 watts per channel does thıs mean that if i only use 3 channels iwıll get 250W of power per channel wıthout any other mode of connectıon? (ie bi-amping) or is it referring to its power capability with bi-ampıng? thanks guys |

You seem to be looking at the XPA-5.
http://emotiva.com/xpa5.shtm Yes, that is what that means. The less channels you are using the more power available to the channels in use, without any other types of connections. |

ok guys. ive done some research and im back with a few more questions
![]() 1) on the official polk site it says that the recommended amp power used with one floorstandıng speaker should be 20-300w per channel. so if i were to purchase a 5 channel amp with 200W/channel and bi amp my fronts...would i be at risk of damaging the speaker? because essentially i would be feeding it 400W, correct? 2) if i were to purchase the same 5 channel amp with 200W/channel. would it be best to amp each speaker in my 5.1 setup or to bi-amp the fronts and amp the center? or is this merely by preference on what sounds good? thanks guys |

I've built most of my speakers and have been using the Rotel amplifiers in my system since 2003. My latest Rotel amp is the 5 channel x 200 watt RMB 1095. It is so heavy it has a roller under the bottom to help slide it back in place.
My receiver is NAD's flagship T-785 next generation receiver with rated power of 120 watts per channel x 7. I am using the NADs pre-outs for the 5 main channels being sent to the Rotel via RCA cabling, and am only using the center back channels for the 7.1 back B & W speakers. You won't blow your speakers if you don't overdrive them or allow the amplifier to clip, meaning taking the amp to it's maximum power. With as much power as the Rotel amp has, I'm in good shape. Each of the stacked subwoofers has its own 1450 watt QSC amplifier all controlled by a German built Reckhorn B-1 equilizer. I'm a firm believer in having more power than you need. You should be able to set your outputs in your receiver's setup menu. Good luck, Mike Last edited by mfishmike; 07-31-2009 at 07:23 PM. |
