Don't know if anyone has seen it but there was a Hong Kong film based on Tekken called The Avenging Fist, but the director "FORGOT" to secure the rights before filming so wasn't allowed to use the Tekken name or names of the characters.

Quote:
The Avenging Fist had some anticipation among Western viewers as the filmed version of the popular video game Tekken. Unfortunately for fans of the game, Wong Jing "forgot" to secure the rights before shooting began, and was sued by the game's creators. Of course, Wong wasn't willing to let a little thing like a lawsuit stop him, and so progressed on with a new script. Well, perhaps, "new" might be a misnomer -- this is Wong Jing after all.

1) Silent Hill (a satisfying movie overall)
2) Tomb Raiders (at least they tried)

The rest all fall away into distant oblivion for me.

Of the ones I've seen, probably Tomb Raider or Resident Evil. They weren't great, but they were entertaining. Resident Evil was pretty well done, actually.

When the hell did a Far Cry movie come out?

And has anyone seen Wing Commander? That PC series is legendary!!

There is no question Resident Evil(1) was the best game to movie adaptation. I think even if you don't enjoy the type of film you can enjoy the story, effects and overall quality.

I think that Hitman would be a close second.

Mortal Kombat as 3rd since it really was a lot of fun.

"I don't think so...."

MOOOORTAAAAAAL KOMBAAAAT!

... and Silent Hill surprised me (in a good way) lol.

Is this a trick question?

I'd have to say the Resident Evil Trilogy...even though the stray from the games quite a bit.

Silent Hill was alright.

Motorcycle cop in Silent Hill is pretty hot.

I like Mortal Kombat, DOA, and Mario Bros.

Yeah, but that was before we got the smug-jerk "Street Fighter" review--
True justice must be avenged.

(In such manner, one was hoping that the technical WHY would be discussed along with the What, but no, let's just get a few more "Silent Hill, me too!" posts, for flavor. )

Thanks "Black Tiger" is my all-time arcade fave! It could be made into a film with it's awesome medievel/gothic theme,a much better idea than the upcoming "Asteriods" film. After all, Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros. were given their own films. Ghosts and Goblins would also make a cool film!

The only one that is actually good was Final Fantasy: Spirits within (Yes that final fantasy), and one of the reason I liked over other game adaptions is that it develops it's own vision while keeping the theme of the games. I did not liked the Advent Children, I found it a very deriveted Matrix clone that is alien to outsiders of the games. The resident evil films I'm not a fan of since they are pretty indulgent, but my Dad loves the series (especially the second one, I don't know why though). I recently watched Max Payne and boy what a Clint Eastwood wannabe Mark Walberg wants to be. It takes too many elements from movies such as Dirty Harry, the Matrix and Sin City to name a few. Mark Walberg forgot some things that made a character as he played to be enjoyable, such as a sense of humor, a personality, awareness as a human, and all around a likable character. He just is that tough badass cop that seems to share in common with alot of video game characters, but not everyone likes that kind of character, I believe most of us want a character that is more like a person, not an arrogant superhero.
