Yeah, sounds like it is exactly the same story. Or maybe it is just the fact that there are people with guns running around shooting zombies.
Sigh. I'll try typing slower. The point is that in DOTD Romero tried to present Zombies as being more human - as having feelings, memories, something other than mindless killers. You had one side that just wanted to wipe them out and one side that wanted to study them to see if they could be returned to humanity.

So YES IT IS THE SAME STORY!

No, it is not the same story. It may have the same themes, but it is not the same story. The whole reason they were there in the first place in Day of the Dead was to study the zombies and try to figure out why they were coming back from the dead. One doctor thought that he could domesticate them, so they would behave. Land of the Dead used some of the same themes. The zombies figured out who were killing them and went after them. In Dawn of the Dead, the inhabitants of the apartment building were keeping the zombies locked in their basement.

Do you really think that this wouldn't happen in real life? People would hide their loved ones in hopes that a cure would be found.

All of Romero's dead movies are supposed to be taking place in the same world. There will be similar themes running througout them. Just because he explored an idea once, doesn't mean he cannot return to that idea in the future.

Fine, if you're gonna split hairs, I should have said it was the same theme then.

Either way, Zombie movies are like pizza and/or sex - even when bad, they're still pretty good.

I still hold out hope for the world as long as Romero gets to make his zombie movies.

UPDATE:

Sept, 8th:

A NEW CLIP

Quote:
there’s a new clip from George Romero’s Survival of the Dead. There’s already been a behind the scenes video and a trailer (both embedded below the new clip) but this is the first full clip we’ve seen from the film, which follows the “inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure.” I’ve tried to stay on board with Romero’s low-budget continuations of the Dead series, as I love the idea that he keeps making movies. But Diary of the Dead strained my ability to support the effort, and this clip isn’t much inspiring me for the new chapter. Survival of the Dead premieres soon at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Enjoy.

In the U.S., it's getting a limited theatrical release in May.

It's probably region locked, but the UK is getting a Blu release on March 15th.

I'll buy the UK BD then since I live in Germany, so Region B is no problem for me.

I've been waiting for another Romero release. Zombie films are done best by him.

Romero hasn't been bringing his A game to his latest movies. Diary Of The Dead should be called Diarrhea Of The Dead. That movie was just pure garbage. Land Of The Dead was just mediocre. I found a lot of things strange about that movie. Can only hope this one turns out better.

Yeah I'm not impressed with that poster at all. I'm a huge zombie fan and George Romero fan as you can tell by my avatar. I love the dead trilogy. I even love Land Of The Dead. I tried really hard to like Diary Of The Dead but just couldn't even though i own it Lol. I plan on buying this one to cause I'm such a huge fan but I bet this one will be a let down too.

They are the same people who hate Blair Witch Project and for the same reason.

Dawn is one of my top 5 favorite films of all time.
I liked Night (wheres the bluray?) and Land alot as well

Jury still out on Diary and other than the effects I really dont like Day. Just didnt enjoy it at all. I know it has its fans though. Maybe I need to give Day and Diary another chance?

Im hoping to like Survival though.

Watched the trail without sound since at work but it looks like he is kind of going a more comedic route with this one?
