What point are you trying to make with a link to a 2007 post about the operation of a Mitsubishi TV? No fixed pixel display such as a plasma or LCD works the way the first line of that post describes:
Quote:
alot of 1080p tv sets use pass thru technology where whatever signal is coming in thats what will be displayed.
Plasmas and LCDs cannot show the input resolution of sources that do not match their native resolution. They must convert them. A 1080p display can only show images in 1080p. That would certainly be the case with your Panasonic P60UT50.

Got it, Thanks!

but the sd picture quality on the mitsubishi is sparkling!

A Mitsubishi DLP RPTV is also a fixed pixel display. All solid-state( LCD, LCOS, DLP & DILA ) RPTVs are, same as plasma or LCD flat panels.
"Plush 1080p" is just a marketing term Mitsubishi created to make their product seem special.
"Direct-view HD CRT & HD CRT RPTV sets are not fixed pixel displays and therefore can scan at different native resolutions -- no need to scale."

"All images are displayed at 1080p, and the TV uses Plush 1080p 5G to convert lower-resolution signals to 1080p for display. It'll also accept 1080p original signals and maintain them at 1080p through all processing until displayed."

That's not even possible for the vast majority of sets these days. So, which ones would those be?

And a better job than most AVRs.

Sancho, where are you going with this?
