Neither do I. Gotta love when people have overreactive cryfests over something so lame.
People nowadays react to everything that is pathetic. So what people don't like his X3 version of the story. get over it, its a movie after all.

Where exactly did he turn everything upside down?

There was no way that they were going to do a shot by shot adaption of the Dark Phoenix Saga.

Just like Bryan Singer didn't do a shot by shot adaption of God Loves, Man Kills for X2.

"Waah, how dare Bryan Singer not keep Stryker as a Catholic Preacher. And Lady Deathstrike as a Cyborg!"

Besides, bringing in the Shi'ar and all that other stuff would be a huge jumping the shark moment.

X3 was fine, other than needing maybe another 20 minutes to flesh out Beast and Angel.

This guys is totally pathetic and if you agree with him then you might as well brand yourself a douche. That comic people have no life, so its our fault that we demand top quality! You have to call people out when they do piss poor performance. We all knew he was the wrong guy for the job the second it made news, all of us here predicted disaster.

I mean what next? American Car companies telling Custom shop and gear heads that "oh you guy have too much time on your hand, we just have to make sure the car run when they leave the factory"

Also you guy are forgetting the point that These studios and director get paid millions of dollars and live a great lifestyle due to the comics that are turned into movies, Nobody is asking them to do it for a favor or free. If your getting paid a million buck to bring story that are some of the best writing in our lifetime then you should man up and do the best job that you can.

Wrong. You really need to learn the idea of opinion.

You may also want to re-read what Ratner said, cause all of it is correct.

Hell, he's even saying that Synger told him to ignore they crying online. Cause he got it himself for X1/X2. The only so-called douches are the ones who cry and whine and say that a human being should die because they don't like the latest comic movie. I don't like Dark Knight, but I never asked for anyone to be fired or die. So grow up and get over yourself. Opinions are like asses, everyone has one and everyone thinks theirs don't stink.

And yet another hugely wrong statement.

You realize that not everyone disliked X3, right? Everyone has different tastes, and frankly I'd take X3 over X1 by a wide margain. And that there's a difference in saying that you didn't care for something, and trashing a human being and calling them a douche and hoping they die, simply because you didn't like their version of the X-Men. There's tons of incarnations for writers and directors to draw from, and both Synger and Ratner went different ways than established canon. Like Scott said in X1, "What do you expect, yellow spandex?"

Hey Beast,

I was wondering how long it would take you to head into this thread...

Because you say this:

He's welcome to have his opinion. But having the opinion that the sky is pink polka dotted is still wrong.

I'm not denying his right to have an opinion I'm just noting his opinion is flawed.

I don't recall some giant fanboy meeting where we all agreed to like the same thing.

Sorry, you can't have Twinkies.

Since Disney bought Marvel, you have to get in shape for the fight between you and the Beauty and the Beast, Beast on PPV in the cage match to see who gets to keep their job.

He's right, the point of making an adaption isn't to port it's source material, but rather take the theme and make it your own creation. Fans or "Geeks" of the source material want to relive those moments they liked into a more sophisticated form (such as a movie). The movie they are making is for everyone to see. The problem with many of these movies is that they make conventional choices that would appeal to more lower denominators (Happy hollywood ending, overdone special effects, cliches, etc.). The point is you shouldn't emulate the source material, but you should also make something that came out of your head, not to disgust the audience but to become something you would make yourself.

You obviously can't have a page-for-page remake of the Phoenix Saga, but at least stick close to what the comics showed you, it was subtle and would have been far better to be stretched over another movie {or two} in order to get the proper effect, it wasn't just BAM "I'm teh dark PHENIX!".

That, unfortunately, is just the beginnings of the problems with that movie.

It was stretched out over three movies...

You had the first signs of Jean's growing powers in X1.

Then you had Jean's powers growing even more and more powerful in X2. Ending with them flaring up and enveloping her body during her sacrifice and apperant death, and a Phoenix apperantly flying under the lake.

And then X3 had Jean return, but out of control cause the mental blocks that kept Jean's powers in control broken by her "Death", and growing out of control. They used the Ultimate incarnation of Phoenix, to get away from dealing with the whole cosmic parrot and all that other stuff. But they kept the basic nature of it. Her power usage was slightly changed, but dismantling things and people work with her powerset.

I never said they would make a good movie. I think you would do better if you thought about how would you portray the source material ,you are responsible with the project and it would either sink or swim. It's more respectible to take creative risks than to make something generic and bland. People don't seem to realise but Uwe Bowl's films were pretty faithful to the video games that inspire them and thats the problem, they were made to be played as a video game, not to be watched as a movie. If you think that's wrong, rewatch movies such as Final fantasy: Advent Children and resident evil: Degeneration, which I think are bad films that are not that entertaining but faithful to the games, then watch the Spirits within and the Resident Evil films, though they weren't great atleast they were entertaining and imaginative in comparison. That's what I think and my opinion, and yes I do love playing video games, it's just I do not want to watch them.
