Why does it bother you so much that people love disc art? It shouldn't. Sure there are other more important things to fret over, but since we are on a blu-ray site, I think it's relevant.
I'm not patronizing anyone. I'm just trying to point out the reality of the situation. I like disc art too, don't get me wrong. It's just starting to sound like people are gathering a rally to boycott the studio for not putting art on their discs. And, to me, that's getting ridiculous considering how little anyone actually sees the disc art.

Ultimately, for me, it boils down to this. I enjoy a good piece of disc art. However, does it enhance or detract from my film viewing experience? NO. Does it enhance or detract from the functionality of the disc itself? NO. So, therefore, it is a trifle of a concern in the grand scheme of things.

I view it less as a rally to boycott and more of a "I need to say this, to get this off my chest." It feels good.

I think most rational people will agree with this statement.

And, when you have company, do you start pulling discs out saying, "You have to see the exceptional decor on this disc. The composition is simply amazing. It was designed by..... in the year....."

The attitudes coming out in this thread are seriously mystifying given the actual nature of the scenario.
Wait, you guys are putting the discs into something and they do something?

Holy cow, I've just been buying these things and looking at the amazing artwork on the disc in stunning high definition.

I suppose that explains all the talk about TVs and "players" around here.

I agree, it's a superfluous concern.

I care about the total package. PQ, AQ, menu design, covert art, disc art are all important to me. Blu-ray is a premium product after all.
