The french BD isn't really an option. I've also read that the PQ wasn't great on this one, plus no english subs. So it's either the US one (if not region locked) or the australian one.

Just checked my copy and my projector says it's a 1080p transfer, and has dts hdma (lossless) sound. I've had a quick flick through and the transfer looks stunning from what I have seen, though the subtitles are not all in picture, there one line in picture, one line out of picture. Which is an annoyance. Otherwise, a very descent release that can be had for $25 australian dollars. Deffinatly worth picking up.

Thank you for the confirmation Suntory_Times.

Could you please leave a small note in the French thread as well so that other members know what you have reported?

The package says region a, b and c, though I don't know how to verify this (all icon release have been region free in the past though, so I doubt it has changed + the package says its region free). The extras are the same as what was on the Australian dvd release. There's a couple there, though the only one I found at all fun was Andrea Tataus (sorry about the spelling) funny faces.

One line appears in the active picture and one line appears in the black bars.

Thanks alot.
I saw this film for the first time on DVD a couple of months ago, made me forgive Jean-Pierre Jeunet for Alien 4.
Good day to you sir!

Easy. There is no US release. The one Amazon is selling is this release.

I've just watched the majority of this movie and can give it the thumbs up in relation to the transfer. The audio is also no slouch with quite a bit of rear speaker use. I'll just warn everyone to turn down the sound at the start of the movie as the Icon spoiler is ultra loud.

Extras include: The Makinf of Amelie, Outtakes, Photo Gallery, Storyboard Comparison & Traliers. As such, it's quite light on the extras. The subtitles can also be turned off (so they are not forced)

I would love the front cover to be the picture of her when she is holding the spoon.

Can anyone find a formal review of this release?

I want to get it but I'd like to see screenshots + such before taking the $35 plunge.

I received this today and it looks + sounds fantastic.

There's a nice, fine layer of grain, and detail is sharp throughout. I can confirm it is 1080p, not 1080i. The cinematography and direction of this film were made to be seen in high-def, and it doesn't disappoint. The scene where we first see the adult Amelie is an example of the quality: you can see every strand of hair on her head, and every pore on her face.

On the audio front, dialogue is always crisp and there is surprisingly good use of the surround speakers, like when they let Amelie's goldfish go in the river and it starts raining.

Not a formal review I know, but I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in. I'd highly recommend any fan of this movie to get the Australian blu-ray, as it is far superior to the 1080i Canadian release.

I love this movie, and I'm disappointed that this seems to be out of stock or backordered everywhere.

I bought mine from Mightyape, an online store here in NZ. I've ordered dozens of games and movies from them and can vouch for their awesomeness. They have Amelie in stock and ship overseas.
