$25 is prohibitive for Blu Ray editions that blow these out of the water? Really?
Great point, I remember when VHS movies were over $50 a piece!

Snow White is coming out at 25.99 at Best Buy so its not Disney

Not to mention, the final sale price hasn't been locked in yet, like Sully Mod said. By the time the first week of release comes around, there are always good deals to be had for the big releases.
But guys, the OP is correct. Disneys MSRP is through the roof on new titles....and even old titles like Monsters inc. Even if Amazon does their normal 30% off, the disc sells for $30.00. Up is $45.00 for crying out loud. Amazon s 30% off puts it at $32.00. Thats Koo-koo compared to what their competition is doing.

So it's Amazon's fault that Disney decided to raise their list price from $39.99 to $44.99 on new releases?

Because of them, Amazon has to offer up nearly 50% in discounts just to get a new title under $25. I can't imagine they would want to do that often on a new title.

Disney does 2 things wrong that hurts BD:

1. $44.99 list prices for new titles.
2. Barely releasing any titles. I think they average 3 a month.

It's a good thing other studios don't follow this practice. Otherwise, we'd have an extremely tiny selection of titles for a steeper price.

I swear, I think if Disney raised prices to $99.99, someone would defend it. "But they're including a dvd, digital copy, a watch, a notebook, socks, a hat, and balloons!".
^^^ The truth. All of it.

Guess I can't vote with the narrow choices.
He means the discs have too many advertisements on them....coming attractions etc.

Oh, ok.

The previews don't bother me at all. In fact, my kids love them.

One of the plusses of Disney is the "Fast Play" option. It just plays, with an assortment of previews and extras. I like it.

If they didn't have the $10 off coupon on most of them then I think they might be a little over priced.

I do agree with Hero but try this it worked for me Best Buy has it in store at 34.99 and 29.99 online so they gave me the online price and their 10% off also for price match.

Those markets are more rental oriented, which is part of the reason why the prices are higher than here.

Overpriced is a matter of perceived value, but Disney always priced their DVDs at a premium, so why should BD be any different?

BD in general is overpriced. FOX and Disney are just on top of that list.

Disney is the only company that I know of offering rebates and coupons on a "consitent" basis at there web site for the rewards program.
Perfect example is the Snow White selling for 23.99 to 25.99 with the coupon for $10.00 off by just typing the UPC barcode for the VHS or DVD ( you dont even have to show proof of ownership by mailing in purchase tabs) you can get a new and sealed title for 13.99 to 15.99 and that's not including promos like the free steelbook at BB etc.
These promos will be going on with not only future titles, but have also been there in coupon form in the past just by being part of there free mailing rewards club (hannah montana, bolt, escape from witch mountain, etc)
So for the titles above and others and then for future titles I am getting the
Blu Ray
DVD
Digital Copy
$10.00 coupon
IMO no I am not paying too much for a great Blu and great quality.

I don't think they are too over-priced. You can always get them on sale at some point anyway.
