As for the original poster, at first when you start it is frustrating, as much as some people say it's easy to jump right into, it's not. There's a learning curve. Give it a few hours and you'll notice things become easier and more fluid. The other thing about matchmaking is some times you get a group of players who buddied up. I can't begin to tell you the number of games I've gone into with guys/gals in their 30's-40's when my team was only in their teens. Also this isn't so much a run and gun game, you have to watch out running behind someone becuse if you don't get the fisticuff then it becomes who can hit who twice and get the kill. Also stay away from the AK-47, it takes a full clip to kill someone. If you play sniper rifle and pistole, especially in Ice Cave you'll find the players just run around with the pistole and barely ever use the sniper. The first time I played that one I was getting angry because they just ran around one shot killing everyone, so you adapt and do the same thing. There's only a few complaints I have with the multiplayer deathmatch. The respawning of opposing team players behind you. Example is Ice Cave, I was at the south end(the side with the two walls that people climb up to snipe) I was just up at the cover spot just before the entry way to the lower level, a player came down the center area and I killed him/her. 10-15 seconds later he shoots me from behind. Not only was it him it was two other players as well. So that's a bad place to be for more than a few seconds unless you keep running to the back area to make sure they're not respawning on you. Same thing in Temple, game started it was a mad dash for the Hammer and I killed two guys/gals going for it. Still in cover the both of them respawned behind me, where our team first spawned at. Also I'm not a jerk, on several occassions people respawn right in front of me or they run out of a respawn room and I'm right behind them, I don't kill them. I know maybe I'm a nice guy but it's kind of crappy to kill someone right as they respawn. But I will add there's alot of a-holes who will, one match I had a guy with the Hammer sitting there blowing up everyone just as they respawned. The jack-ass was a level 30 something. Once again ego thing. I was playing one match and a guy spawned right in front of me, we sat for two seconds looking at each other but when he saw me turn away we ran off together spliting up into different directions. At the end of the game the guy had a mic and said thanks for not killing him and we had a good laugh about how we can all be friends. One last complaint, and this isn't about the game but the players. I'm finding that I'm enjoying playing with people across the pond more than people in the states. The guys here in the states for the most part are alright but I get more of them that are just a-holes. Trash talking and having no fun it seems, almost like leveling up is their job. I was playing one game and this group of idiots(all buddied up and levels 30 and above) played against myself(lvl 13 at the time) and a group of 3-9 lvl's. During the game they're saying go back to Call of Duty you pus**es, and then they began to call me a N****r, yes the N-word. First off I'm not black, the guys saying this and my teammates weren't either. I have never played with a over seas player who's called someone a N****r. Is this just our American ignorance or what. But I will say I'm enjoying this game alot, I've had the great opportunity to play in several matches with Naughty Dog, and they've all been fun. I will say there are some Naughty Dog's that aren't that good, might be the janitor at the office sneaking on or something. |

just reading this thread...makes me wish there was no multiplayer demo for uncharted 2....I mean yea it is probably fun...but will these stats count for you once you play the multiplayer when the game is released?
I'm only buying uncharted 2 for the story...i could careless if it had multiplayer..i like the first one and didnt feel it needed multiplayer...I will be glad if all the trophies are in game only. Not saying multiplayer is bad...its just something extra...(for people to complain about) ![]() |

In this new demo/beta I've only seen somebody spawn in my field of view once in the village. Apart from that I think it does a great job of spawning you in a safe spot and you always need to be prepared for people to be coming from any direction in a respawn match. It's far better than any permanent team-side spawn location system and there's no way of continuously spawn-camping.
Players respawn together which promotes more teamplay. Quote:
Gamers know MP mechanics better than Naughty Dog and Uncharted 2 should be Call of Duty. ![]() Last edited by Shin-Ra; 09-21-2009 at 04:30 PM. |

One option would be to make a head on melee attack a two-hit kill. But rather than having the receiving player stumble way back after the first hit, forcing the attacking player to re-engage for the second hit; the attacker would be set-up for a quicker, 2-hit combo after landing the first hit--completion of which would get the kill. However, the receiving player could execute a well-timed counter during the attacker's 2-hit combo--which could result in say, a big counter uppercut, overhand right, or even a grappling, neck-breaking type animation which would award the receiving player the kill. So, you design the game so that an attacker can reasonably land a fairly quick, 2-hit combo to get a kill, but you also give the receiver a reasonable chance to get a kill by countering. Of course, the mechanics and timing would all have to be tweaked to make the odds for either player around 50-50...with the countering possibly being slightly more difficult to pull off. Of course, if the receiving player is nearly dead already, he'd be an easier melee target @ 1 hit. |

If I can agree with anything shin-Ra says is this I think the spawning is great you spawn with team mates,From what I noticed it spawns you on the opposite sides of the other team.I could see how there may be a issue with the ice caves seeing is how its not that big of a map. |

I've even respawned behind the player who's killed me. Is this frustrating enough to not play anymore? Hell No |

This counter system sounds complicated, unintuitive and even more of a nightmare for the netcode to handle. |

And there's often the option of throwing a grenade at the other person's feet and rolling out. There's enough danger for the smarter player to keep moving and not rely on smacking the other player twice. |

Hi guys, OP here.
thanks for all the feedback, but noone has said anything that has changed my mind, even the subjective "op is whining" comment didnt work!. ;-) The fact remains that the logic of boosters and rewarding more experienced players with them is a load of crap. If you applied that logic to sport, lets say that because Tiger woods is the number one Golfer, he should be rewarded with the abilty to move his ball 50 yards closer to the green, while a rank amatuer plays as normal. Also, some people here dont seem to have grasped the concept of "learning". You dont teach somebody to play Basketball by making them play one on one versus Kobe Bryant! You dont teacha student piano by giving them Beethoven from lesson one and expoecting them to "learn" from consistently failing!! A properly desiigned game would allow you to have some sucess, but also continue to provide a lasting challenge. E.G. Fifia 09, which lets you enter a lobby with players of your own skill rating. Anyone can be an "expert" at any game if you spend 6 hours a day on it, but for the average person, it's simply no fun to keep logging in and geting owned. Mental. ![]() |

Hopefully in the final version there will be some even more vertical maps to monkey around on.

Same things has happened to me. Did you notice the name that comes up of the person who killed you, it's yourself.
