It's also based on a true story. Back in the 80's I bought and read the book upon which it was based: Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi. There are substantial changes in the film of course.

Casino always felt like "Goodfellas II" to me. Not that I mind of course.

The way I look at it is that the Godfather films focus on the generals whereas Goodfellas focuses on the foot soldiers. Even Paulie is a foot soldier. He may be at the top of his crew, but he is still not the boss of the family. Here is the guy he's based on:

I rented this after hearing so much positive talk about it on this site. By far one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Just got my Goodfellas from best buy online. A bit sad to see that the cover is a shiny red when earlier this year when i was shopping for this title at the local best buy i could have sworn i saw it in a faux leather bound. Can any confirm or deny? I honestly could have sworn that when i saw it and picked it up it had this fake leather around it. Was it an early exclusive/limited?
