they will sell at msrp it will not bring down the value or price. paradigm/anthem are smarter than that. Paradigm needs to sell more of the cinema, monitor and millenia series. they still are going to be the best speaker for the money no matter who sell it. now fry's needs to get on board

Actually, the MAV here on Chicago carries Classe. I'm not too crazy about it anyways and the same goes fot Sonus Faber

Whatever Sumiko Audio carries, you can bet your arse MAV will carry it as well. As well as other brand that I mentioned above already.

IMHO, selling these brands at BB(MAV/MHT) doesn't really de-value them. It's just a way making these brands more known- ala you're everyday household brands. The only problem with this is that most of the MAV associates have little to no knowledge of the products they carry. But this is just my experience from my visit to my local MAV a few months back. Others may disagree.

The reference series' beryllium dome tweeter is extremely bright and fatiguing to my ear that I cannot even handle listening to them. However, that is subjective but if my choice was between strictly those to speakers, I would pick the VA's.
I happen to agree with your take on the VA over Paradigm

McIntosh as already prostituted themselvs when they sold years ago , but hey all Hi-End A/V companies are being bought all the time ,, Its a tough market and Im shure thats why Paridigm went with BB ...
Its funny because I love McIntosh amps, and Sonus Faber Cremonas are my favorite. They make a great combination.

yep its just a rumor. just got word from the real forum(avs):

"I would like to take a moment to shine some light on this recent issue regarding Paradigm Electronics Inc. and BestBuy/Magnolia Home Theater.

Recent threads on AVSFourms have mentioned Paradigm Electronics Inc. and BestBuy/Magnolia Home Theater in discussions regarding new distribution. I can ensure you that this is not the case. Paradigm products will not be available in BestBuy/Magnolia Home Theater, nor have we a desire to do so.

Lets not put words into his mouth though. It sounds pretty clear what he is saying. Only a Man United fan would do that.

Obviously, Paradigm is feeling pressure to keep sales up and grow. Big box retailers like BB have continually squeezed out smaller hi-fi and home theater specialty shops. Up until the economy collapsed, there was a bit of a resurgence in independent hi-fi and HT shops, but sales dropped significantly with the housing bust and people cutting back on expenses.

I'm afraid Paradigm's move is a result of the economy. Hopefully they can strike a deal with BB that will minimize the whoring of the brand, but it's inevitable. Their traditional dealer network will be extremely pissed over this.

Like alot of you have said, I just hope that if this happens, Paradigm will not cut back on the quality of their product lines. I do not care for this move, but profit and marketability is important. I live in the Chicago area and have seen three specialty Home Theater stores close up in the last year due to this economy. Every one of those stores were authorized Paradigm dealers. I have to travel 45 minutes just to purchase Paradigms and see a broad selection or the new brand. It would be nice if Paradigm sold there own speakers online since they will not let anyone else.

i agree with you as well. I really do not find the Sigs to be bright at all. They are a very very smoothe speaker. When i first heard them i expected them to be bright but i was shocked when they were not.

I love my viennas, but the Sigs are pretty awesome sounding speakers IMHO.

Paradigm should be in the stores as early as January 2010. I figured I would pass this along.

the monitor line will be sold in the NOLAs attached to the Best Buys, and Signiture will be sold in the self standing NOLA's.

Anyone else hear anything about this?

Jason: I did see it in MAV catalog that they were carrying Monitor Audios at one point. I'm not so sure if they still do.
The ones in my area carry Monitor Audio. I have a couple of MAV's around me (there used to be more) and I had an interview at one back in August. It was much nicer than what you would see in a MHT inside of Best Buy. One of the listening rooms was a dedicated 2-channel setup using McIntosh amps. Seeing all of the quality products in there, I highly doubt a store like that would devalue higher-end HT products.

On a side note; during my interview, I brought up how MAV's would start to carry Onkyo products and the interviewers looked dumbfounded. They hadn't heard any mention of them carrying Onkyo. I guessed someone missed the memo (either that or the whole Onkyo thing was a rumor as well).

Attached to BB and inside of BB are different things. Attached to BB is an MAV, inside of BB is an MHT. MAV is going to carry full product lines and be "design centers", MHT is an expanded assortment of products.

LMAO...thats some funny sh!t. I promise i won't use NOLA as reference to Magnolia again. This is the term the source at BB/Magnolia used. Its funny I had to ask the same thing " what does NOLA mean" he kinda rolled his eyes and said Magnolia.

As far as rumor, it may be, but he gave me his card and he is pretty high up. I dont have it in front of me, but he is like the regional manager of the south east. Hes was a customer of mine for a number of years, but moved to Orlando so we lost touch. Out of coincidence he came in to say whats up and we started talking and he mentioned he was going to Vegas for a convention, and what do you know it was for BB.

Take it for what its worth, I know this when the deal gets done. I get cost minus yes minus 10%. His discount.
