I will be seeing this film on Saturday so will let you know what I think of it.
I guess this shall be receiving an 18 rating in the UK then

Alright, after having seen this movie on Saturday I can say that the "gory" scene in question is not that bad. You see worse in horror movies, but I guess for patrons watching this one who are not accustomed to horror flicks may be a little disturbed by the realism that comes from this movie. A lot of it is in the sounds you hear, when he breaks his bone, and snaps his nerve tendons. James Franco offers up a great performance (even if you do find him a little bit creepy looking lol) he is very believable and did a lot of research into the role, including being shown all the handicam footage that Aron shot while he was trapped in the rocks.

Great film. Style wise it is beautifully shot and the music I thought was awesome. Gotta find the soundtrack. It's quickly edited and paced like Boyle's latest Slumdog Millionaire was. Lot of multi-screen shots and the like.

in my opinion they could have done less with the hallucinations and daydream sequences but I figure it's necessary to relay the experience that Aron had with the audience.
I gave it a 5 out of 5 upon rating the movie at TIFF.

Okay, the film was awesome. Definitely go see it when it comes out November 5th. But what I really want to talk about it is how AMAZING Danny Boyle is. For those of you who don't know he screened this film at the Chicago International Film Festival last night. After the film he did a very nice Q&A. Now I've been to a couple Q&A's with John Woo, Quentin Tarantino and some others but I have never seen someone so enthusiastic about their film. He absolutely loved to talk about his films. He was so engaging and gave so much insight into what he was trying to accomplish. Oh, and he made a comment on how Michael Bay's films suck. It was hilarious!! So then after the Q&A most of the people left but there were about 20 or so people who gathered around Mr. Boyle. Usually this is what happens then about 5 minutes later the Director has to leave. But no, not with Mr. Danny Boyle. About 5 minutes in his security team asked if he was ready to leave and he just said, No, I'm fine. He signed, greeted, talked with and took pictures with EVERY SINGLE person that waited to meet him. I could not believe how gracious he was. I originally wanted to get an autograph because I didn't think I'd have time to get a picture with him but when I saw everyone taking a picture with him I said screw it, I'm getting a picture with him! He was just sooo cool. After I took my picture with him I just kinda waited around and watched the people interact with him. At one point he even got down on the floor on his knees to sign this kids poster for "28 Days Later." Then probably about 30 minutes after the Q&A everyone was finally gone and he was ready to leave. As he was walking out he kinda motioned to me as if he wanted to sign something and I said, "I'm good, just thanks for being awesome!" He just laughed. I literally got to walk right behind him as he left the empty theater. It was such a great night. Danny Boyle is the man!!

That's really cool for you. It is nice to know some directors care about their fans. I wish i could have met him or any director or actor for that matter.

Cool story man! I'll watch ANYTHING he puts out! He is one of my favourite directors along Edgar Wright and a few others.. 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Trainspotting are all unforgettable and fantastic movies! Oddly enough Slumdog is my least favourite

I'm very bummed as well. Apparently it's only playing in New York and Los Angeles this weekend. I probably wont get the chance to watch this until December. :/

Although I love Boyle's work, I have to pass on this one. I know enough about what that guy went through that I really do not need to relive it through a movie.

I saw him describe what he did in detail on youtube, to break the bones, cut through the nerves and ligaments, and it was very tough just to listen to, no less watch in a film.

You and me both. There isn't an f'ing theater within 40 miles of my house showing it....I mean WTF??? Instead one of the theaters has two yes TWO screens each devoted to "Due Date" and "For Colored Girls" not to mention Jackass 3D and Saw 3D still showing
