hope it's true--it is a bit troubling that I still can't find a bd on the Gaumont site, and the pre-order link on amazon.fr still has nothing, but it's still a bit early.

Well the 2 November date has been listed on the Amazon.fr listing for a while now, but it's still inactive, and there is no pre-order on Boutique Gaumont even though La main du diable, also out on that date, has gone up already (and has been up on Amazon.fr for some time)...perhaps this 2 November date was just a fluke?

Really, Arkadin you should know me better than that...

It's already being prepared to ship (ordered it right before I posted), and one thing I love about Amazon.fr is that the Express shipping is only about EUR 6,50 more than the Standard. This, and Lost Highway will be here between 11/4-11/9.

But damn it, the U.S. dollar needs to build muscle and burn fat, like yesterday. I ordered these and a DVD and it came to EUR 69,50, which, according to Amazon.fr, is US $100.48!

Oh well, guess it's back to being a gigolo...

I put this is today to check the regional coding and I ended up watching the film. By my amateur eye, this is an incredible presentation, and certainly leaps and bounds over that overpriced New Yorker NTSC DVD from donkey's years ago (the PAL discs were much better, but the N'Yer is ingrained in my memory with its dirty image). I would urge anyone even remotely interested in seeing it to pick up this region-free disc from Gaumont with their next batch of French imports.

This is my first Gaumont disc ever (!), and I have to say, that from looking at Pro-B's reviews, and now with concrete evidence from my system, Gaumont BDs strike me as incredible values, considering their reasonable prices, for classic French films.

I'm now considering French Cancan and Don Giovanni for my Christmas list.
