Your eyes are the best judge. If you have the same film on DVD, you can also play that and compare to the Blu-ray. Bitrate is useless. Bitrates for all these upconverts are in 20s and 30s.

Thanks!!
Returner Blu-ray from BitWel is upscaled DVD quality. The end credits have been cut (running time is 112 min down from 117 min), and worst of all, the image is squashed into 2.35:1 when it should be 1.85:1. Everyone ends up being short and fat. Just when you think BitWel can't screw up anymore, they come right back and surprise you.

Thanks for your input. As much as I would love to have Returner (along with Azumi 1 & 2) in Blu-ray format, hack jobs like this would have me hang on to my R2 dvds for the meantime.

Art of the Devil 2 from BitWel is true highdef in PQ, albeit with DNR. Add this to the short list of Blu-ray titles from BitWel that actually is high def.

Swing Girls is true high def and pretty good one at that. This is the first BitWel title that is also in Dolby TrueHD, so I'm wondering if this one is a direct port of the Japanese Blu-ray.

This was specially disappointing since this was the only double dip for me from this release bunch. My HK R3 anamorphic DVD is much better than this piece of sh*t since it's in the correct aspect ratio.

Shame about this one. It was the other one I was mainly interested in alongside the Azumi's.

U seen the Korean flick called The Restless? I just watched it last night and the PQ seems pretty good. So I couldn't figure out whether it is good DVD upscale quality or true HD?

None-the-less, it was great movie, quite good acting and the CGi is pretty impressive too......

i've this one on dvd and I also thought it was a great movie; so picture is good on this one, but what about the sound ?

the sound from the 2 Bitwel BR's I have is not good decoded by Bitwel (most noticable with dialogue, voices come from all speakers at the same time, not just the centre speaker) is this also the case with this one ?

I really liked this movie so I like to upgrade but sound, especially for this movie, must be correct, otherwise I'll stick to my dutch dvd version

Restless is below average DVD upscale quality. If you are happy with the PQ, then I guess most BitWel titles would look good to your eye.

after seeing a couple of Korean bitwel blu-ray, I think its not DVD upscaled but rather HDTV material, that would explain soft 1080p pictures and the 2.0 --> 5.1 audio

that also would explain the poor sound conversion bitwel has performed on their so called LPCM/DD5.1 tracks....

I hope they'll improve over time

They are definitely not from HDTV.

Thanks, I am sure that are quite a few of us that are keen to know both the PQ and AQ.
