Either way good game and the better team won.
Grats on proving you are a total 'Bama(or maybe SEC) homer.

Remember, Utah had no chance against Alabama last year...how'd that go down for your unbeatable team again?

no clue how you can make a comment like this. a true freshman coming in for his first action ever in a title game is basically a defensive coordinator's ultimate dream. the entire game changed when colt got hurt.

flip this around, if ingram never came back in after texas got it down to a 3 pt lead do you think bama would of scored. they were both heisman finalists for a reason, they are indeed difference makers. texas defense played well enough to win this game thats for sure. no bama passing game and i know colt himself running or passing can out score bama's running game.

For all saying that Texas would have won had McCoy not been injured.... maybe, maybe not. We will never know. The thing is that this is football and anyone can be injured at any time, which is why it is so important to develope the entire team.

Bama did that all year long. Ingram has been the star this year, but look at how well the entrire offense has done this year. Richardson, Jones, Upchurch, Maze and others have all done very well all season; because Saban has done a great job of developing the entire TEAM. This is includes the second team.

Had the situation been reversed and McElroy had been taken out, I doubt the loss would have affected Bama nearly as much as the loss of McCoy affected Texas. McCaron was played several times throughout the season; in one game he was put in for the entire second half. That's just good coaching.

Poor Gilbert had almost no play time throughout the entire season. I don't follow that conference, so I don't know. Maybe Texas never dominated games enough where the coach felt comfortable to bring out the second team; or maybe it was just poor coaching to not bring out the second team when opputunites to do so did arise. He did an excellent job in the third quarter, and had he been given more play time throughout the year... Gilbert just may have been able to pull this off.

If you want to blame the Texas loss on anyone.... blame it on Mack Brown. It's obvious Gilbert has talent. Unfortunately a good qb needs talent AND confidence, and he was just not given the oppurtunity to develope the confidence that can only be gained through actual game time. That lies squarely on Mack Brown's shoulders.

i agree with you on everything expcept the last paragraph, i only half agree there, i wouldnt put it solely on anyone, i was pretty surprised to find out that mccoys backup was a true freshman though, regardless of practice time, throwing an 18 or 19 year old kid, first year in college football period, into the national championship game is gonna be a really tough situation for the kid, but he did grow a LOT towards the end of the game, he couldnt throw to save his life at first, but in the end he was tossing 30+ yd TD passes against a fantastic defense, im sure hes gonna get a LOT of work in the off season, im sure hell be ready to go come opening day next season, but this year, alabama was the best team, and they won the national championship

ROLL TIDE!

Congrats to Alabama. However that game was really boring. I think TCU vs. Boise St. was the best BCS game.

Even though I would have liked to see Florida in the game, at least Alabama kept the SEC dominance of the BCS Championship alive.

Last nights game was...interesting. I give props to Texas for fighting back after losing Colt McCoy. That was a real bummer. And, although 'Bama won, I don't think they would have had McCoy been in the game.

On a side note, McElroy showed his true colors. He is not a very good QB. He made a lot of porous decisions and overall did not play very well. I don't think he'll draft very high after last nights performance.

This was kinda like being hyped up for a Big blockbuster movie only to have projector die out in the first 5 minutes lol It just killed it. Sure Texas made a nice lil push in the 2nd half but it just didnt live up to what was expected.

This game was to boring..very predictable play calling on both teams!!

And for every one who thinks this game was lost because of the mccoy injury your crazy.. im pretty sure mccoy wasnt on defense trying to arm tackle ingram and richardson!! And when the defense finally woke up it was when bama was most predictable.

This kid gilbert is a amazing QB.. he shook of a lil rust but hes a football player who can handle the big game and should of been well enough coached so were if he had to come in the game they had a game plan..not figure it out as it goes on..thinking colt is never gonna get hurt is probably mack browns ignorence. As a coach you got to have a back up plan and he didnt ..luckly for him gilbert is a good qb.

I think you'd be surprised. The number of times a quarterback goes down and the team continues to thrive, in either college football or the NFL, is very rare. Especially in the very game the other QB goes down.

There was no pressure on McCaron at all when he took over for Alabama. That's not comparable to throwing him into a national championship game.

With McCoy on the field, Texas probably would have been up 10-0 or 14-0. Furthermore, they wouldn't have 3-and-out the ENTIRE first half.

The main reason Ingram and Richardson started doing so well was because Alabama's offense tired out Texas's defense, not because they were just flat better than Texas's defense.

That doesn't even include the pressure Texas was on when Alabama got the ball on near mid-field every single time they got the ball.

Anybody who makes a claim like yours (The QB isn't tackling on defense) doesn't understand football.

*EDIT* Please understand, I still think Alabama would have won. But these claims about McCoy going down affecting the game being Mack Brown's fault or have No Effect at all are absurd.

Thought this was funny:

Apparently the Texas players didn't know which way to point.

I love how #27(don't know his name) grabs #48(don't know his name either) and tries to correct him.

Sorry to any Texas fans.

What I said was that it was very poor coaching to not give your back up qb any more play time than Gilbert got throughout the regular season. It is rediculous to say that had Gilbert not had more play time, that he might not have faired a good bit better. The boy has skills.... what he was lacking was confidence and experience; and that can only be gained through play time. What good is a back up if he hasn't been prepped to take the field. I think you'd be hard pressed to find ANYONE who will say that poor boy was properly prepared. It seemed as though they hadn't even been running many practice plays with the boy. Even Brown at half time said "We just have to find something that he is ABLE to do." Shouldn't he already know what his back up qb is ABLE to do?

This game left more questions then answers. If anyone can actually believe Colt not being in the game didn't make a difference. Should never coach or play the sport. That's like saying "let's not had a depth chart just play freshmen and seniors a like doesn't matter how good they perform."

For me there will always be a * next to the score of this game. We will never know who the better team was. From what I saw and I was shocked to see it, was Texas probably would of won this game. But like I said we will never know, to bad too!

I don't think anyone is saying that. I for one was saying that it made much more of a difference than it had to. Saban had second and even third string players on the field throughout the year every time they had a lead comfortable enough to do so. That's a very smart thing to do in a game where anyone can be hurt at any time.
