Amazon's listing is back up with pricing and the new date. Unfortunately, they still show a $39.99 list price and a selling price of $27.99. DVD Empire also shows a $39.99 list price.

I hope that changes soon.

I have the book and it is a very nice book, however the radio recording could have easily gone on the BD (in fact that would have been better). They often put the radio recordings on Bogart DVD's already. BTW this radio recording can be heard for free online.

I saw a japanese all region bootleg of "The African Queen" at Suncoast Video yesterday here in Omaha. It wasn't a used copy. It was brand new and wrapped in cellophane.

I'm glad the blu-ray is coming out in just a little over two weeks and I have it pre-ordered. Otherwise I probably would have been tempted to buy the bootleg, only to be disappointed by a horrible transfer.

There's no lossless audio. What makes it worse, the bit-rate for the dolby isn't even 640, or 448, or 384... it's 224 kbps.

They did this with It's a Wonderful Life. Now another classic getting MP3 quality sound. They shouldn't be praised, Paramount should be publicly called out on this pathetic ommission on a classic film.

well that's annoying

i'm much more of a video guy so i'll still be happy, but it's ridiculous to still be putting lossy original tracks on discs in 2010.

But why do you want a DD 2.0 at 448 kbps?

I don't... I want LOSSLESS.

What I meant by that other remark was that they've added salt to the wound in not *only* the offense of lossy audio, but the double-whamy of low-bit-rate Dolby at that.

I guess I'm one of those fortunate ones because I won't have to order the Commemorative Boxed Set since I already own the laser disc boxed set which came with an original hardcover copy of Kate's memoir, images of the lobby cards and a 41x27 reproduction movie poster. Still, I can't wait to own this Blu!
