Actually The Fourth Kind is a pretty good movie. In the late 90s I was on staff at MSN's UFO Forum and at one point even hosted weekly chats with people who claimed to be abductees. Just because the movie really isn't based on a true story like it claims doesn't mean many of the elements shown are not what abductees claim to experience. All but one thing shown in the movie, to my knowlege, is what thousands claim is happening to them, over the course of their life. Degreed health care professionals have investigated many of these people and say that the abductees are not mentally ill and think something extraordinary is really happening to them but can't explain what. This includes a highly respected Pulitzer Prize winning Harvard psychiatrist who passed away a couple of years back. Of course, there are those that think man has explained everything, like the sheriff in the movie, or even when he sees something he can't explain can't confront it, like the male psychologist. That's cool. So if you watch the movie knowing that thousands have smelled the putrid cinnamon smell or seen an animal like an owl unexplainedly or have missing time or recall encounters with non-human entities under hypnosis, then it makes it just that more scary.
