First of all, I wish these German releases weren't region locked.

Most of the REM DVDs are much much better than their Indian Counterparts. Indian Cos. can't (or willing to) match them in Quality. Foreign Cos. always have a strict quality control on their releases. Indian ones take the customers for granted.

Secondly, one thing I am unable to understand is why the Indian companies can't simply pay a small fee to the European companies to use their higher quality transfers in the Indian releases. It would probably save them some money and customers would be happier too.

German publishers only have the rights for Germany, hence region locked.

Yes, I understand, but why can't the German transfers of the movies be used by Indian companies to release in other markets? Hollywood movies, for instance, have one good quality transfer that is used worldwide. It doesn't make sense for Bollywood to have multiple quality releases of the same movie in different parts of the world.

This point was given to all bollywood studios in india ,that why cant they use the international version on bd eg jodah akaber but no body commented back on our email last year ..

my assumption is that its a part of business strategy.

Rapid eye will pay UTV to publish their discs,

If UTV wants to publish Rapid Eye's master, UTV must pay them,

That trade, nulls out the profits, If UTV does publish Rapid Eye's master, its almost like giving away all the profits for foreign sales.

Think about it. It wouldn't look too good, when you presented this data to the investors.
