Thanks everyone for the quick responses on the voice issue. I was hesitant to open my Best Buy copy of Pandorum but now I may have to check it out this weekend.

But that's OK, we won't hold it against you.

Yes.
The endings of both movies are entirely similar.

Talk about coincidence! I just watched both of these last night. I bought Death Race at BB for $15. Mostly a blind purchase. I rented Pandorum. Neither movie was spectacular. I enjoyed both. Visually, neither movie was a stand out. The sound on the other hand is a different matter. Death Race SQ was pretty good. Nice effects throughout te sound stage. Goof LFE. Pandorun SQ was off the hook! The surrounds were always going, the front stage was clear and present, but the LFE is by far the best so far. I swear I could hear LFE coming from behind me as well as in front of me. I have 2 12" subs, 1 in the front right corner and 1 behind me to the left. It was insane. If you like great LFE, GET THIS MOVIE. I know I am.

Greetings,

Two different type of films but each has something to offer. Pandorum has more depth to the story while DR contains more visceral action. If I had to be pinned down I guess my vote would go to Pandorum. I suggest picking them both up though...

Regards,

Thumbs down

Death Race > Pandorum
Pandorum is an embarassing attempt at Sci-Fi Horror. Ben Foster's performance is the only redeeming quality in an otherwise inept screenplay with low-budget effects and zero replayability. At least Death Race looks HD.
(Sorry so negative about Pandorum, I had high hopes for it, but the stupidity of the writing just baffled me)
FYI-The Thing is what I consider Sci-Fi Horror defined.

Since starting this thread, I have picked up both blu's. I love both of them. I originally bought Pandorum after the opinions here. I received DR a couple of days ago and I love both but if I could only have one I'd go with DR! ;-D

IMO pandorum is a horrible movie, denis quad needs to stop acting

death race has crazy car action scenes, one HOT chick, and its alot of fun, kinda cheesy storyline, but its not suppose to have a solid one

death race all zee way

Pandorum, definitely. Saw both, bought Pandorum. Didn't buy Death Race.
But to each his own, I guess.

I didn't like Death Race at all. Paul Anderson hyper edited the action scenes that you can't see anything.

Just finished Pandorum.. I'm surprised this movie doesn't get more respect.. Very well done! Sure the
[Show spoiler]creatures could have been better.. more development
but as a whole, great environment, fantastic acting by Ben Foster, audio design

Yeah, I would agree - and my wife even liked it. Very well made.

And the spacecraft design - the shot at the start. Awesome design and detail.

Oooh. Toughie. I like them both. Death Race, I think, has more re-watchability.

Pandorum by far, still one of my favourite movies from 2009, a year I consider to have been an excellent year for movies.

The header only has meaning if he's asking about the Roger Corman version.

The story of Death Race was alot like Gamer and the action was also. I found Pandorum to be more Intriguing. PQ and AQ i give to Pandorum in that it is more rounded in its delivery. But you gotta love the concept and action of Death Race! What the hell, Go for both!
