Why stop with slip covers?
If you want to save resources, lets not pick and chose your demons.

1. Let's get rid of the disc case and discs can be sold in recycled paper envelopes.
If security is an issue, you just ask for them at the counter to purchase.

2. No more artwork on the disc.
The fumes from paint injection and resources required to put artwork on the disc utilizes power & uses up resources.
I mean, do you really need to look at the disc artwork?

3. Stop making/using custom slipcovers for disc cases.
Stop killing trees by making another disc slipcover so it's different from the one provided/sold.
This gets you nothing but bragging rights with friends that yours is different.
All the info on a custom slip cover can be found on the Internet.

4. Let's get rid of discs all together.
Why not have huge hard drives on blu-ray players and make it mandatory for owners to have high bandwidth Internet connections.
Then when you want a movie, you download it.

5. Let's go back to using 2 channel audio.
All these 5.1-7.1-7.2-7.x systems eat up an abundant amount of power.
Come on, do you really need to have it loud or be immersed in audio to enjoy a movie?

6. Let's scale down your HDTV to 32" or less.
Anything bigger is using up too much power.

Sure let's just get rid of anything made from trees and put all of the people with lumber related jobs out of work. That will be great for the economy.

By the way I LOVE SLIPCOVERS!!!

OK my 1000 post will be my last on this subject.

I know most of us do not read all of the posts, or even the first.

Use paper and trees to serve a purpose.

Slipcovers serve no purpose!!

And do not say they protect the plastic because Blu's you own without slips you do not make makeshift slips.

They are a marketing tool and a lot of people fall for it.

I do not care what you put the disc in.
Just give me my movie.

I started this thread because I found it odd that on Earth Day the studio was wasteful that put out Avatar.

They should have pulled a Gore and packaged it differently.
But that would hurt sales.

Im done

see you in another thread.

It is not bash Slipcover day. IT IS why do we waste just to collect something that holds no purpose or value. I understand that you like collecting. But our resources can not afford things that do not serve a purpose other than "Collecting"

My Poll did prove me wrong in the fact that I thought that more people did not save them. Save them or not they will eventually do nothing but sit there. At least the silly eco case holds the disc.

What it did prove is that many are willing to buy worthless paper. (they will never be worth anything)

Also proved that people will fall for silly marketing ideas. (many buy movies JUST for the slip cover)

So when you decide to defend yourself by trying to put ME down when I never attacked a single member here (until now), just the manufacturer, make sure your facts are straight before you throw around cute catch phrases like "epic fail"

My beef is with the Studios not you.

Now go hug a tree!!

Also, we should stop using toilet paper and keep a few rags next to the toilet.
After each use, rinse them off in the sink.

Don't stop with slip covers or just blu-ray, let's save the PLANET !!!!

How about we just stop wasting resources on things that don't serve a purpose, such as slipcovers?

Umm..., this is why offering your left hand to shake is an insult in some parts of the world. Or so I'm told.

I for one prefer the 3 seashells myself.

I agree, they get flattened and stuck in a file cabinet for me. It would be different if EVERY blu had them, but they don't, so they are useless to me.

No, I tear them off and throw them in the trash. They serve no purpose whatsoever.

No. I hate slipcovers with a heated passion. I trash my slipcovers immediately, even my Minority Report one with the 3-D. They're worthless cardboard/paper, a waste of space, and serve no purpose.
