I just used some my buddy had left over from his recording gigging days. My ears are not precise enough to notice a difference if my measurements were taken with HQ converters or run of the mill converters :-) Too many years of drumming but I can say it sounds freaking AWESOME!!!

Took part of the day off to read the posts and instructions and any info I can get my hands on about calibrating subs... Well my head is spinning... I think I do not need to read into all the in depth scientific explanations.
It seams a bit intimidating at this point. But I know once I run the tests a few times, I will get the hang of it. |

I'm wondering if someone could measure the width of their 1124, without the rack ears (just the body of the unit)? I read it was 19" wide which means its larger than my cabinet, but I thought that dimension might be with ears. I've got 18" available. Thanks in advance!

Due to work, I did not have an opportunity to calibrate my new Outlaw sub until a few days ago. I have been playing around w/ REW and the Behringer, and I have to say, correcting a sub is VERY interesting. Besides cost, my curiosity and penchant for tinkering are my other reasons for going the Behringer route.
I did have some questions. First, I initially followed HTShack's advice of running the REW w/ Audyssey off and then run the AVR calibration after the sub filers are added. But when I ran REW after all this, the results were worse than before I ran Audyssey. So I reset everything, ran Audessey, and then ran REW. I got a much flatter response. Is there something wrong w/ my process (besides contradicting HTSHack)? I posted my before an after correction graphs, but these readings were done AFTER Audyssey calibration. My next concerns are the dips at 24 Hz and 100 Hz. Any way to correct those (besides relocating the sub)? I am particularly concerned w/ the 100hz one since that should be when my speakers should be playing. Any other thoughts for improvement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Kali157; 10-01-2010 at 04:31 PM. |

Update....As many of you know I upgraded my subs recently (Wharfedale SW-380'S) - and some of you know that I added a DCX2496, well I wanted the DCX to handle X-Over duties and I wanted a few more filters - so I added a FBD2496 to the mix and WOW!!!!! While I'm off I'm going to do some computer graphs to compare against my manual hand ones, but my ears are not lying - I'm hearing bass notes and feeling bass that I didn't before...even at low listening levels. I heard details and layers that I didn't before - this is just amazing!!!!
I almost went for a SMS-1 but I lost the auction - so I decided to get in there and wrestle with the DCX/FBD combo and I'm glad I did! My wife even noticed it during the Sorcerer's Apprentice. She told me that these new subs kill my old ones - but I didn't have them dialed in like I have these. It's wonderful when your wife can apprecieate your hobby ![]() |

I have a question:
My measurements show a down peak from 40 to 50 hz. If i lower the Target Level from 75 to 60 it flattens the response drastically. How big of an impact on subwofer perfomance comes with reducing Target Level DB? |
