Thanks for that. 1st November sounds about right, although with that release date in mind, I don't know when we're going to see Fantasia/Fantasia 2000. I would guess at the very end of December after Christmas, possibly 27th December.

I won't make the mistake of buying the dvd+blu again like I did with both Toy Story movies. That's all Target had in stock during the big promotion awhile back. The DVD cases bugged me so much I had to buy a couple of two disc blu cases and print out blu ray sized covers! Lol

Got ya. That is what we got at Target here in the States. They had both combos of blu+dvd and dvd+blu. That was with the $10 off coupons per TS title for current TS DVD owners. On top of that they had a $10 off savings for buying both TS1 and TS2. It was a bananas sale and all they had left when I got there was two of one and one of the other, all DVD+blu in #:# cases.

I don't really understand the marketing behind having a DVD+Blu-ray aswell as A Blu-ray+DVD as there essentially the same product but with different packaging.

I agree. The only thing I can think is that they do tje dvd + blu to appeal to people who haven't gone blu yet but want to. Help them start to future-proof their collections

What is it about Disney in that the UK always gets releases a month later? And this applies to both cinema and Bluray/DVD releases.

The thing that frustrates me most is that other European countries get them around the same time as the US, yet the UK is a more popular target because it's an english speaking country and as such is easier to trannslate.

I think they try to tie releases (both theatrical and DVD / Blu Ray) into school holidays in the UK, which is really annoying when it means we had to wait an extra couple of months in the UK to see Princess and the Frog. Presumably why the Blu Ray is being held back to the end of June for the start of the summer holidays and why Beauty and the Beast looks set to be held back until November for the half term holiday. It's so annoying that they tie us into these schedules in the UK when everyone else gets to enjoy the releases much earlier. Every other studio tends to do world wide releases for their major films, why can't Disney?

It is extremely frustrating, and a lot of the time they get it wrong anyway.

Take last year for example - Up was a huge succes in the US in the summer, but we had to wait 4-5 months here and by the time it did come out, I had lost interest.

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!

If I remember correctly, with Up, they felt that there was too much competition from other releases during the summer, so they held it back, and then of course, we had to wait until the half term holidays for it to be released over here, which also ended up pushing the Blu Ray release back by months too.

You'd have thought we'd at least get everything at the same time as the rest of Europe, but all too often we trail behind.

Getting back to BATB, I'd be more inclined to believe the November date though than the highly suspect September date which has been bandied about elsewhere.

Or Finding Nemo, which we got in theaters after the US already had a DVD release. With Up it was interesting, I went to see the movie in a theater, and one week later I had the Blu-ray. That was great .

Although it does seem like Disney UK are on the mend with their cinema releases, because we have Toy Story 3 roughly around the same time as the US, then later this year with Tangled, although it's not confirmed, many sites are saying the UK release is 17th December, and then after that the release date for Cars 2 is 22nd July here in the UK.

So who knows, maybe Disney UK are starting to get their act together. Maybe it's of complaints?

Looks like Amazon has now got the final packaging, which looks pretty similar to the American version.

Well that is the American cover because there is no BBFC 'U' logo on it. But that will still be what the UK cover will be like, just with the rating logos too. Good to see it's the same as Snow White.

It's up now:

http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/1...y/Product.html

I can't decide whether to go for HMV or PLAY to pre-order. They both have pre-order price promise and tend to ship early before release. Any suggestions from previous experience??

Go with HMV, because Play are always a bit iffy about their packaging.
