I have seen a german language soundtrack mentioned on some annoncements (DD 5.1 not HD though),
but i would settle for that with a good restored image.

Amazon.fr still lists the German audio track, so if it's not on they gotta take it back for giving wrong info.
Nobody here from France who could check it in a local shop ?

I did risk it and re-ordered after the message of Gaumont.

The BD was shipped yesterday and should arrive soon...

I own the disc, and I can assure you that there only are a French dub and French removable SDH subs.

Sorry...

Gaumont explained that, basically, Herzog Productions asked for too much money to give them the rights to release the German soundtrack (and, but I'm not sure of that, the German cut, I don't know, in fact, which cut is on my BR).
So, it would have been too expensive for them, moreover as Gaumont does the restoration themselves internally with the help of Eclair.

That's the reasons the gave.

Herzog & Kinski dubbed in French?! What a Frickin' Waste of Money! There's nothing worse than a Blu-Ray or DVD without the Original Audio Track! This puts us right back to the Age of VHS & before the Internet existed!

The image looks good.
There is no noise or anything in black areas but isn't the contrast boosted?
Does the black swallow details?

WTF ?!

I'm glad that I checked this thread, I won't buy it. Why would you release a movie with another soundtrack ? Just drop if you can't afford the real soundtrack !
Let's watch Godard's movies in japanese !

Interesting....

On a side note, Mr. Kusturica's film, the DVD cover for which you have in your avatar, is actually something a lot of people saw dubbed in French.

Probably... A lot of theaters still get dubbed copies, but personally, I can't imagine a Kusturica movie dubbed. You probably lose a lot of charm with the loss of the slavic accent.
