Sorry to those who aware of the comic/series, but its a great indie comic that is in the vein of Dawn of the Dead that has recently been picked up for a 6 hour long episode season to debut on AMC in October. Its easily the best piece of Zombie fiction I have read or seen since originally stumbling upon the dead trilogy as a kid AND Frank Darbabont is producing, writing, and directing the show.

Again, not trying to derail this threas but rather pass info along to some who may not be aware of the great comic and upcoming series.

Thank you for this post. I've never heard of this, and sure don't want to miss out on this show.

They had this on the shelves today at Best Buy, but when I tried to purchase it it rang up for full price and when they price checked the ad they wouldn't sell it to me at all until Tuesday. I agree the movie was far from great, but I still enjoyed it. Also the disc looks to packed with good bonus features. I know there was a full length documentary, a Fangoria interview with Romero, some short films, commentaries and more. I know a lot of people on here didn't care for the movie at all, but for the price and all the extras I'm going to pick it up.

The Reign of the Dead books( http://www.reignofthedead.com/ ) would make excellent source material for films.

Might pick this one up. Most people are claiming that its better than Diary and I personally liked Diary. Plus for 16 bucks new at Best Buy! Mines well.

I agree! Diary was OK imo.. Miles better than most of the cheap zombie movies released nowadays, and the release has great extras etc.. For a zombie fan like me I kinda have to pick this up!

In the original Dawn Of The Dead they had to clear out the zombies from the mall before they could use it for a refuge. I've always thought that was one of the most fun sequences of any zombie movie. However, the zombie makeup is so bad compared to the movies of today, it makes the original kind of hard to watch. I think the remake could have been really great had there been more zombie action during their time spent at the mall. As it is, the mall sequence is kind of boring. But the remake definitely does have it's fun moments.

I really liked Diary Of The Dead too. I thought they did a great job of giving it a realistic feel. I could see it happening like that if there really was a zombie outbreak. It kept me on edge the entire time wonder what was going to happen next. And I loved the bit with the amish guy ha ha. Only down side about the movie, since there is not a lot of intense zombie action. When you already know what is going to happen it's not so great for repeat viewing.
I liked how realistic the zombies looked too. Best looking zombies yet.

I've not seen this Survival Of The Dead so can't comment on that. But I'll be checking it out for sure.

Im sorry but Diary is much better than this crap! I am a huge zombie fan and this may be the worst zombie film that I have ever seen. Land of the Dead is even better than this and I didnt like that movie either. Just my 2 cents and wanted to help people save some money and not get burnt haha. Got Em!!

Rent it first everybody! This one is either hate it or love it. Most people seem to hate it though lol. Yes, it's not scary or creepy and it's missing the whole "end of the world atmosphere", but I enjoyed it. Of course it's far from being perfect, but imo it's not as bad as people make it out to be. I really liked the humor in it and I liked it much better than Diary, which is the worst in the dead series imo. 3.5/5

I agree with BaldeRunner2007, it's not that bad. I doubt I'll end up buying it, but it's definitely worth a rental for Zombie fans.

Luckily I was able to see this film on HDNET back when so I didnt even waste money renting it. It was just bad. There is no other way to say it. Like Blade said it didnt have the same atmosphere as most zombie films, very dry humor etc....The concept was bad in my eyes and it failed in my opinion. If u have to see it then rent it but be weary. Got Em!!

I repeat what others have said: RENT FIRST.

Personally, my wife and I really liked this movie. But we seem to be in the minority.
